Okay, I bought a new throw-out bearing. It has about 1/8" of rotation either way in the clutch fork. Is that correct? Installed a used transmission as well. Same clutch & pressure plate.

I still have the same scraping noise with the clutch pedal out. Goes away when it's in.

Anyone have ideas? I know it's a terrible video but that's the best I can take for now.

Sorry i couldn't really hear the scraping you were talking about, maybe it's just my speakers...

Clutch pedal properly adjusted? Always adjust it according to the service manual, do not adjust to however you want it.
Also, might be a bad input shaft bearing in the transmission (you should always check the end play on the input shaft before installing the tranny, don't know if you did or not). End play is 0 - .0020". I had a worn input shaft bearing in my first transmission that did the same thing you're talking about. It would make noise when the clutch was engaged, but if I were to dis-engage it it would stop.

I have never adjusted the clutch pedal, though I will check. The person I purchased the transmission from claimed it was low mileage and in perfect working order. Although, he said he had the scraping too (He blamed it on a throw-out bearing with one broken clip).

I've been had!! (Possibly)

+1 Chrysler recommends ATF+4 , but all ive ever used is Royal Purple 75-90 it contains the anti wear additive needed for our hell sent paper backed synchros.

Schucks told me to use 75 90 LOL. I'll try switching tranny fluids to see if it makes the scraping go away :/

Thats why I and anyone smart doesn't trust Schucks, Kragen, Checker, AutoZone, O'Reilly, Pep Boys or anyone else besides people who actually know (DSM Owners) for anything DSM... or Automotive for that matter. Its like asking a Fashion Designer (

) if this oil filter "here" is better than this oil filter "here". Its not Gucci or Prada! :nono:

You should have a little bit of pedal free play. Push the pedal in an inch or so to engage the throwout bearing. Is the noise still there? Does it go away only when transaxle is disengaged?

Transaxle must be fully disengaged, not partly. Then, after 3-4 seconds, the noise will disappear.

I'm either thinking fluid or input shaft play :/

At any rate, I have my other 5-speed on the bench I can disassemble.

That one was completely frozen after driving a small trip, I want to see the damage :D

Ok, so the noise is absolutely not throw out bearing or anything besides the trans for that matter. I would remove it and take it back for a refund asap. I would be willing to bet 99 per cent against lubrication issues. Most likely is bearing related. In order to fix is internal and unless you know what you are looking for/doing I would not do that. A bearing/seal kit is less than 250 bucks and can be done at home. Just please be diligent and take notice to pits, grooves, outstanding wear on your gears.

I had one doing the same thing it was used and sat for awhile in the elements. I thought it was the throwout bearing. I drove it and after a few hundred miles the noise went away. Never did find out the cause for certain

Strange, Rush.

Heckles, yes I had re-installed the shim. Though it was bent, I had tried my best to put it back into place appropriately. I have a feeling I'll be rebuilding a transmission soon ;] (Just because the noise is so frickin' annoying)
