- Background
- Purchased in early July, 2021. I got this from another member here. Story is the t case was new from dealer and transmission was rebuilt. The motor was then rebuilt in 2008 with 1G rods, 2G pistons, Web 546/547 cams, ARP head studs and then it sat until 2020. The guy I bought it from did all the prep work for getting it to start after sitting. He drained fuel, replaced timing components, replaced and primed oil pump, freshened things up and got it to start. He also installed a Fidanza flywheel with ACT 2600 clutch kit. The thing would not disengage or shift, so he replaced slave, master, welded clutch pedal, SS clutch line. After adjusting master all the way, he could get it to disengage. This is about when I bought it. The clutch had a loud pop as soon as it would disengage. The clutch springs look like they've been hitting the flywheel. PO guessed the step height was to blame, and after a lot of research I agree. I ordered a SB 2200# PP with hybrid full face disk and an ACT Streetlite flywheel with new flywheel and PP bolts... It has RC 550's, the AC has been completely removed. I used a boroscope and verified claims of a rebuilt block and 2G pistons. The Tial BOV is going in a box because it vents to atmosphere. I am returning all plumbing and fuel to stock so I can break this motor in and then start to mod it.
So far, it has... 6 bolt swap, 1G rods 2G Pistons, Web cams 546/547, MHI big 16G turbo, Kinetic Motorsport FMIC, Japanese master and slave, dual piston front calipers, fuel pump rewire. Everything under the hood is pretty dang fresh, even the oil pan and return line look new. Fork and pivot ball look great. After I get the new flywheel and clutch setup on it and adjusted, I'm going to double check timing components one last time and begin the break in process.
