my 92 lazer is my first turbo dsm. i bought it in pieces and being an auto tech by trade i know how to put it back together but with the car came a gm maf sensor. i know u can use this instead of the stock for better flow my question is is it better to run with just an adapter plug to feed the info to the ecm or is it smarter to go with the translater. also i was told that a 1.8L throttle body is acceptable replacement for the stock one i have now due to the bore being the bigger, is there any truth to this?

Yes you can run the n/t throttle body..You could also bore out the 60mm 1g to about 63+..But you really don't need to run the nt tb unless you want to run tens..It won't make that big of a difference in the butt dyno..So if you already have the nt tb go with that, but if you don't you can port the stock tb..And a 2g tb elbow is a great upgrade for 1g guys as well..

Yes the 2g TB is great bud :) im getting ready to put one on my 6bolt I have now as well LOL and also if you dont want to run the maft you could use dsmlink as well for the gm maf i believe. Correct me if im wrong though bud

yes sir thats what im talking about :) it should work i think theres a spacer you have to use though if i recall or some fabrication or something i cant remember. My friend with all the DSMs have done this to a few.

It is a little bigger than the 60 mm 1g tb.

It is the same size. They're both 60mm.

You can use ECMTuning GM MAF cable along with v3 to properly run a GM MAF. If you have v2.5, then you need to have the MAFT. If you have the option, their cable is better than the MAFT.

Wait you still left a vauge answer shaun, the tb itself or the tb elbow..Cause only the elbow is an upgrade..The 2g tb is actually a downgrade..

The n/t tb is 60mm Brian..Than tell me why people go with the n/t vs the stock tb please?

Because the N/T uses a coupler instead of a gasket.

I would get a dsmlink v3 and order a gm maf cable. Cable is a little cheaper and straight to the ecu.

I would just ran the factory MAF, it tends to be more accurate anyway (if only due to not being in blow through configuration) and chances are you won't overrun it for a while, not in stock form at least.

No one asked, and no one cares, but here's my air metering system order of win (most win to least):
Evo 8 MAF (and similar)*
2G MAF
SD
1G MAF
GM MAF

*For over 500 WHP, the Evo 8 MAF honeycomb should be reinforced, and SD > Evo 8 MAF if for some reason you're exceeding 700 WHP

Hack the stock maf?

People go gm maf-t b/c they are probably runnin 500+ whp. Unless they want the look and fine tune on bigger injectors. There's really no point going gm maf-t if you're in the lower whp numbers. Evo mass and 2g stock mass is enough up to 500whp and will tune smoother than gm maf-t. avoid 1g mass, it is crap and can hold only up to 280whp. Enough to max out the stock 14b turbo.

You don't need to hack the stock mass, unless you're maxing them out.
