Thanks I will get that done this weekend. I had a 92 tsi in high school so I know a little. I am worried cause the person I bought it from was pushing 18 psi on stock internals is there any way to see if there was any damage done to the engine

18psi? hmmm well what mods does it have if any? and man i gotta say these engines are beasts.... trust me the internals are strong enough to withstand 500+hp so if done the right maintenance it should be fine and also dont forget about the abuse..... if you want to know a little more about your motor... give it a leak down test and compression test.... that will let you know a little more about your engines condition

18 PSI? haha Id be more worried about your turbo, I sure hope it wasn't a stock

I believe 16 psi is ok on our stock enternals, and 18 is like right there on the boarder of dangers door, but if he didn't go over 18psi and you don't here any noises when your ride is idleing you should be fine. I mean you DID drive it home right? LOL

and if its the stock turbo then your diffentitly ok, I believe your turbo would go out first before your engine with overboosting. :hmm:

Yeah out was fine it has a 14b in it so I'm sure it will be fine just paranoid after my first dsm.

Oh ya on the 14b your turbo will be fine, as far as your internals go like Blinky said they're F###### monsters!!!!!!!! So how's the car running anyway is it holding true to your dsm expectations?

Oh yeah, I heard that I dont really
need a turbo timer but I have one do you know if I need it. It came with the car I just still have to hook it up.

No one really needs a turbo timer. They're pretty much just for convenience so you can either sell it or install it. It's your choice, but if you already have it, you might as well put it on and decide if you can live without it or not.

As said before, with supporting mods, 18psi is nothing. There are stock engine cars running around with 30psi and more. Just do a compression test, do a leak down test if the compression isn't the greatest, check the turbo shaft play, change the timing belt and water pump, spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, check the end play in the crank.

If your car is stock other than the turbo, leave the boost at the stock psi. Just because the turbo can push a certain amount of boost, it doesn't mean the rest of the car can support it.
