Hello I am new to this forum and plan on being regularly active and annoying on here! Trying to be patient and find the right car for me but right now I’m looking for a 96-99’ GSX automatic. Preferably a 98-99 due to tuning purposes I believe I read a couple years back that the 98-99 are much easier due to the ECM they have (I could be completely wrong on this can’t remember exactly). I have little experience working on cars, I have changed shocks/struts, break pads/rotors, sway bars, control arms, suspension joints putting in polyeurethane (biggest pain in the ass ever) and then spark plugs/Air intake. So I am pretty limited in my knowledge only comfortable doing suspension work.

Regardless my plans for this car that I will hopefully find soon are to make it a project car. I will not be daily driving it as I just started a 2 year lease to get me through school. Mainly looking for a roller with a blown engine as I will be replacing it anyways. I don’t totally know what I want to do with the car yet but just trying to use it as a learning experience and have fun with it. Right now I’m thinking in the far future would like to dump enough money into this car to get it to compete with my dads Z06 corvette as it would be a fun thing for us to take our cars to the track but I know this is going to take a lot of money and time so I will slowly work my way up.

Sorry for all the babbling but I will try my best to search for things before asking dumb questions that have been answered a million times but I can’t promise anything. I hope this community is as welcoming as other car communities that I have come across.

If you're able-bodied , get a stick shift , w/ running , but needs work .

Yeah not interested in driving a stick tbh! I know I could learn but just not really my thing.

Good call on an auto awd. Good luck!

Yeah definitely want something AWD I was trying to decide on a 2g GSX and having enough money to throw a lot of upgrades at it. Or have just enough money to buy an Evo and not have any money to upgrade it for awhile. Not sure which route I go with I feel like either one will make me happy but if I go with the 2g I can spread the money out over a longer period of time by slowly buying parts.

Welcome and good luck! Go for an auto awd if you want a good project that'll handle power well, going through manual transmissions can get tedious and expensive.

Thanks that’s what I’m planning I really like automatics and these cars are awesome. Everyone keeps telling me to go with an evo instead but think I’ll end up with a 2g because I want to be able to afford upgrades for it I’m doing this mainly for something fun that hopefully I can get my dad to help me with.
