New to DSM world and this forum, but I need help!!!

i just recently became a owner of a 98 Eclipse GS

the things i need help with are:

when i got the car, it already had amps/subs. but the previous owner had the wire from the battery to the amp going through the fender between the door, i was following the wires where they when the power wire caught my attention, when i touched it would light up and smoke, i thought that was funny, so i moved some of the panels and stuff and it was sparking. first thing i did was take it out!

now the question is the new wire is 2x thicker then the previous one, i heard you can put it through the firewall, but where? i looked at the wirewall and couldn't find a opening where the wires go into the car.

my next question is i need to i need to change the valve cover seals, but i can't fingure out what bolts i need to take out, i see the 3 bolts at the front of the valve cover then there's other bolts attached to it on top, do i take those bolts/objects off too?

my door mirrors are automatic, when i try to adjust them, they go side to side and down, but not up, what could be wrong? could something wrong with the switch? doesn't work on either mirror

my auto door lock button doesn't lock the drivers door or open, i forgot exactly, but it doesn't work like it should...

what are some good links to replacement car parts, like door panels, elbow rest piece, aftermarket parts and etc.

what do you guys think i should do/add to this car, the first thing i need to do is add new better head lights thinking about halo ones, and fixing/cleaning the inside, other then that what else should i do?

i am new to the fixing my own car, but i would really like to learn, so help a newbie out please

UPDATE: one more thing i forgot to add, the driver side window is not rolling up all the way, the motor works and all, but like there is a gap on the side i'll take a picture... but i checked the window regulator out, and it looks like the the side closest to the engine, the thing that holds the regulator to the window is off, 1 screw is missing so it's hanging, i went to buy some bolts to put it back on, but the bolt won't go through the regulator, is there a piece i need to replace, is the possibility of the window not closing all the b/c of that one piece?

For the wire... i may have a solution for you. Cut a hole into the rubber steering column (feed it through under the driverside carpet) it's rather extremely simple. But it is far easier to feed it from the batery (unhooked obviosly) down under the car into the steering boot into the inside of your car under the carpet to the rear of the car.

That is how i have ran mine for well over 6 years without any problems. And i ran my 1G the same way as well.

Go to autozone BUY a HAYNES repair manual... It is the first thing you should before removing anything. It will help you out..Welcome to DSM and to the site

opps yeah i meant the valve cover, idk what i was thinking! and will do call them bolts!

Not sure exactly which gasket your plannin on changin but it sounds like the head gasket so youll have to take the valve cover off. and then there will be 10 bolts youll have to loosen to lift the head out, youll also have to take the intake and exhaust manifolds out before your gonna be able to take the head all the way off oh and also the timing belt. take out the old gasket scrape the block clean lay the new gasket down. slap the head back on, torque everythin down get it timed, and call it a day, oh and dont forget to take the bolts off in a certain order. thinkin you start with the middle ones 1st and work you way out to avoid worpage

The switch is probably bad. These are a dime a dozen in junk yards. You can find them on 2g Eclipses, 2g Talons, 95-2000 Dodge Avengers and 1995-2000 Chrysler Sebring Coupes.

Does the passenger button lock both doors? If so it's probably the driver's side switch which can be found in the junk yard on the above cars.

Now we know you mean the valve cover your trying to take off... May i ask why? You mentioned the headgasket, if your doing head repair you need to take off the valve cover. Just wondering what kind of work your looking to getting into so that we could help you better.

To take off the valve cover, take off the spark plugs, wires, unhook the breather hose, and take off the coilpack (black box the spark plugs lead to)

i would NOT reccomend doing this without getting a manual from Haynes or Chilton.

its ok, i have a friend thats had a dsm forever and calls the valve cover gasket the head gasket all the time, he confuses me a lot. He says bov flange like bov Flinch. I just nod and act like i know exact what hes taking about.

also, NEW PROBLEM

this past thursday my car wouldn't start, like all the lights and stuff would turn on but then engine wouldn't start it would click, so me and my friend jump started it, it worked perfectly for 2 days, NOW today, i got of work went to start my car, it wouldn't start, the lights and everything would turn on, we tried jumping it from 2 different cars still didn't work!!! me and a few guys decided to try roll starting it, and that worked! i took the car to autozone right away, they checked the battery and starter, and they said it passed the test, so what could be wrong!? i am scared i can get stuck somewhere like this
