new to forum and have a dsm problem

Hey new to the forum. N I googled my car? N seen a lot of similar problems but not exactly what I'm experiencing. First the car, 94 tsi fwd. Fmic, cai, 3" maf w/ maf translator, greddy bov, forced pro manifold. 14b turbo stock, 3" turbo back exhaust. Now the issue. Starts up fine but idles like hell like its cammed/ has a miss.like rear view mirror vibrated but it does have poly mount motor n tranny. I've searched n some ppl say I definitly need to get dsmlink to tune the fuel trim. But I know its a factory stock eprom ecu. U think rough idle is because the maf ? Id does smell pretty rich out of the exhaust.

alot of people are going to say right off the bat get a wideband o2 that way you can see how your car is, then you can dial the fuel in a little better with what you have, next will come, get dsmlink so you can really get the most out of it. as for the idle, mine didn't have that problem when i put my maf, and maf-t on, but are you sure you have your base and aux dials set up correct?

What have you tried so far? Here's a list of things you can do
Boost leak test
Check BISS screw
MAFT Tune (what are you tuning with? do you have a WB02?)
Fuel (are you still on stock injectors and fuel pump?)

I don't know if the base or aux is set up, as for I just traded my ls swapped ek civic for the car yesterday. There is a sticker on the maf translator that says "2.02". But how do you set that stuff your talking about. And I'm going to be buying a wideband with in the next week. And no I have nothing to data log. And so far I have checked idle bleed scrrw, obvious vaccum leaks, . If I unplug maf car revs up and smooths out. There's a white wire off the maf translator that runs over n splices into near the injectors/ cam timing postion sensor that's soldered to a wire. And when I had my last awd talon a guy came and. Looked at it and braught a Pda with this wire harness n hooked up under the driver dash n was data logging, wher can I get something like that and what was it? I'm looking to get dsmlink here in 4-6 weeks.but want something of that nature till the time being

Think I might have figured it out tonight wgich never dawned on me. Driving then dash light n headlights started getting dim. Then radio started glitchen out. Gotta altenator issue which would contribute to poor idle n acting all sorts of funny not getting correct amount of voltage to ecu/ sensors.

Could be several things. Boost leak, bad injector, timing etc

your eprom ecu only means you have the ability to use DSMlink on it, doesn't mean it will make the changes itself. however i dont really see the need for it in your case you didn't make any fuel changes.

I'm getting a new altenator for it tomarrow. An did a good once over on the car today n seen the coupler off the maf was slide inside the Aem intake tube. Then the coupler from the intake tube going to turbo wasn't even tight. Which can ve another idle issue. But it definitly idles like its got 272 cams.

my personal experience is before you can dial in what the idle issue is or any other engine problems you are going to have to fix all of your leaks. they could cause so many problems and headaches for you. just get a leak tester and check for all leaks and fix. The charging system needs to be up to par or you will have many othe issues as well, you should check the timing aswell while you are at it.
