I just purchased a 97 eclipse GSX and it had dsm link. I was just wondering if any of you guys would be kind enough to give me some feedback on this tune. I just did a first and second gear pull, tell me what you think. Car is on MHI 16g at 14lbs, 650cc, Afpr, walbro 255.

Shit...don't have Link on this laptop but I can check it out tomorrow for you. Im guessing version 2.5?

Ok, finally took a look at it:

- your car is running really hot...you need to set your check engine light to come on when your car exceeds say 215-220 degrees. In the log, you are at 223, way too hot to be going full throttle. You can do this by going to ECU/LOGFILE>>>DASH and set the coolant CEL to like 215-220 and I like the knock CEL at 1 so I know whenever the car knocks....personal preference, I like to be safe.

- Your boostest indicates 18-19 psi, not the 14 you are indicating. Are you running the stock mas? Is your boost creeping up at higher rpms?

You will need to eventually take fuel out (lean it out) to make any power but look into the coolant issue first!

Drive around with your laptop on and monitor your coolant temps to see...I personally don't like to see my temps higher than 206-210 in stop and go traffic! Try running more water than coolant and also try turning your fans on all the time via link. You can do this by going to ECU/LOGFILE>>>Miscellaneous and click on FANS so that it is dark...both of your fans should come on. I run my car that way.

olmytsi has given you some good advice. I had coolant temps in the 220's and was seeing knock. I ended up adding a fan and running them all the time (1g). This reduced the knock in that same tune, so i am sure it resulted in more power.

Another idea would be to add a bottle of water wetter from Autozone. This stuff has been proven to work and is a great product. It helped me get the temps I wanted.:D

EDIT: I also see that your Signature is vaguely filled out, but you mention a FMIC. These are great performance parts and help keep the intake charge cooler, but block massive amounts of airflow from your radiator. This could be your problem. Check to make sure that your fans are working properly and while cruising around see when it starts to get hot. (Stop and go or cruising) Re-post with your results so that we can figure this out.

Man guys, thanks alot, I really appreciate all the info.

I too also noticed the coolant temp was a little high, it was very humid outside, and the car did seem a little hot. I should be more careful, but I gotta get used to looking at all that stuff which is why i posted on here. I did notice the car leaking a very small bit of coolant, the stain was smaller than my hand, but never the less it still was leaking and it's still a problem. Tomorrow I'm going to go out and track down that coolant issue and see if I can get those numbers down and I will post another log.

I'm not sure if my boost is creeping, the boost gauge is in a horrible spot, so I must focus and pay closer attention. Ill keep my eye on it and let you guys know and yes I'm on stock mas.

I know eventually I will have to start leaning out that mixture but I just bought the car and it didn't have a wideband so I'm assuming it was tuned rich.

Again guys, thank you, tomorrow I will try to post up another log.

Ok guys, sorry for the delay in my response. What I thought was just bad lifter tick turned out to be a broken lifter, so I haven't been driving the car. I did however use DSMLink to turn on my fans, as you suggested, and it did bring my temps down to about the 206 - 213 range. I really think the huge intercooler and this FL heat is what are killing my temps. Replacing the lifters tonight and tomorrow I will definitely have up another log.

I will be upgrading to V3 at the end of Oct, along with a fully built motor and now probably a different radiator, I don't wanna fry my motor.

Again guys I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate the help.

I would also suggest you go download the v3 application and start using that. It is much nicer and more powerful than the v2.5 application. Download and install the stable version first, and then download and install the early access version.

Wasn't aware that I could do that without upgrading eprom.

Ok, took a log after I attempted to bandade a lifter here it is granted it is short and it is night time. But temps are a little bit down I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to to upgrade that core.

Good...look at my location...I know heat LOL :)

Try running a lower temp thermostat...I run a 160 and it definitely helps contrary to what most people say. Do you have a/c in the car? Having both the FMIC and the condenser can block airflow big time.

Anyways, keep making progress!!!

When I was having the issues I installed another slim fan!!! The slim fan allows me to stay at the temp of the thermostat. Just another idea. FWIW I am on the stock core with the mods that are listed.

Ya I was going to do the cooler thermostat, and yes I do still have A/C and love every sec of it. I'm pretty sure I'm just going to upgrade the radiator and a nice set of slim fans. I'm sure with the intercooler and condenser that radiator isn't getting any air.

Again thanks for looking at the log guys, I'm going to do a mild build here soon ill keep you guys posted.
