My car was modded before me so don't really know what I'm looking at I have a few plans on the path I want to take. Can anyone tell me what the safc does? All it seems to do for me is run my rpm and give me a percentage number that I have no idea what it means. I'm planning on taking my car back to a factory tune. Is this a tuning program if someone could break it down for me that would be great.

The SAFC is a piggyback tuning device that used in combination with the stock engine control unit to modify the oxygen sensor signal that is continually monitored by the engine control unit. You really need to know more about your mods before you start taking things off.

I absolutely agree that is why I'm trying to learn and would not do this on my own I have to buddies with DSM's and are helping me I would not ever do that without having knowledge. I knew it had a purpose that I imagined went with my autometer that never seems to reads stoich? Thanks for the info cause when I say brand new I mean I've had my car two weeks today.

As far as I can tell right now all I have is a 16g turbo and bigger injectors. I would be in my shop now but just got the car from a dealership and tcase locked so they are replacing it. Just trying to get a headstart on what these things that are new to me are. Sorry if I sound like a newb but I've never delt with forced induction its a different ballgame than carbs.

I do not know what you mean by going to a stock tune, but if you have a 16g and bigger injectors, you won't be able to just take out the SAFC. To go back to stock, you will have to slap on a t25 turbo (stock) and stock injectors. There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum and the search bar will really help you out.

Sorry tried to relay that I was an extreme newb, just found out about the search bar. I just bought the car and it looks to me like who ever had the car before me had some shinney ebay turbo on it. So what my goals are is once I get the tcase fixed is to put a t25 on with stock injectors because turbo is unknown and go back to factory tune so I have a better idea of where I'm at from there. Do ALL my matienece first, then get an ecmlink and mod from there. I really just didn't understand the safc and am trying to learn.

Read as much as you can to understand how the car works and remember. Fix all oil and coolant leaks, make sure you have a good fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, clean injectors, test for boost leaks and make sure timing is correct and throttle body/idling is adjusted correctly. After that you can boost up!!!!!!

Thank you for all the info as soon as I get my car back will be doing all this I am on here almost all day looking for info this is hands down best forum I've been on thanks for info guys

You aren't horribly far from where I live.

I could probably help you on one of my days off with a few things I've learned over the years. I have Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays off every week. If your interested just PM me.

I recently worked at that Wal-Mart to help them with their floors during the remodel, so I need to speak to their store manager anyway. So that gives me another excuse to help you if you need it.

You should take a few pictures of the engine bay and anything else you have questions on. Being visual really helps us figure out with the previous owner did that you might not catch.

Did some digging by searching what the last owner had done to the car and what not.
"Garrett t25, injen intake, turbo down exhaust, greddy bov

Engine Management:
Greedy turbo timer, apexi air flow meter, fuel air ratio gauge, spi boost pressure gauge

Suspension Modifications:
Ebc slotted rotors front and rear, hawk ceramic pads front and rear, unknown coil overs rear only"

Also looks like it had some transmission issues also.

From the little bit i read it looks like the previous owner had no idea what the car had or how anything worked.

Take care of the car and it will take care of you! Welcome to the club!
