Hi I just got my hands on a 96 eclipse non turbo that i am looking to rebuild. I have already started taking the motor apart due to the fact that it was not running.. I plan to totally overhaul the S.O.B anyone have any good ideas on where to start this project or a good place to get parts at a good price i plan to take the 420a motor and turbo charge it so if you have any good places to find parts or any words of advice in starting this project it would be awesome.. thanks

I have recently purchased my first dsm as well. although mine was a gs-t that i picked up at a steal.... :D

But first things first. Just fix your problems and DO YOUR RESEARCH. Make the car run right first and just think about your future goals and what you really want to do with the car.... then build accordingly.

as far as parts... i have found the best way to shop for parts is to figure out what you need. then shop around. BUT BE AWARE! buying the cheapest part you see may not be the best idea. Quality is everything and durability means alot...

hope that helps to get in the right mindset to your build.
Happy Tuning

420a build nice :hellyeah:

Just like you have read already RESEARCH. The more you know about your engine the better. When I started my 420a build I disassembled the engine made a list of the parts NEEDED and got those first. You can check the classifieds, parts store or salvage(depending on what you need) You will also want to buy quality parts dont skimp on this especially if you go turbo. I used cimotorsports.net for some parts.
You will also need to find a capable shop that is trust worthy for machining your block/head.
If you do go turbo you might also want to look into an egr delete and a missing link for your map sensor. Building a car is not cheap(it took me 2yrs) so prepare you budget accordingly and dont forget you are probably better off building your motor from the ground up if the $$$$ is there for you
