I have a little over 700 hundred bucks to spend and I plan on running a Big 16g in a couple months. But for right now I need help picking out pistons and rods. What do you guys feel is the best combo? Also I wanted to know is it okay to run these pistons and rods without a turbo for now?

Eagle H-Beams and Wiseco or Ross Racing 8.3:1 pistons, but the rods are going to run about $700 alone. I would go for boost controller, fuel system, fmic, cams, downpipe, etc... before going into internals.

I do have a 4g63 LOL...my buddy was telling me to go with 2g pistons and 1g rods...my whole theory behind getting the pistons and rods first is that my engine has 146,000 miles on it, and it's going to take me a few months to save up for my whole setup. So i figured especially since winter's coming up I want to get my engine running strong now.

Hey i would suggest doin the 2gpistons and 1g rods if ## workin with only 700bux any other combo is gonna cost u more but if u do decide to go with it the eagle rods and cp pistons is a good combo thats what im runnin and it does fine and for that other guy the 4g63 does come in a non-turbo version

yeah I think I've seen like only a small handfull of people with the same car as me haha

If you are just starting your build, a set of stock 1g turbo pistons on your stock 1g rods will be more than adequate for now. That will keep you in your budget but still be capable of 400+ hp. There is really no need for a fully built engine until youi step into a turbo larger than the normal 50 trim variant. With just a 16g, anything more than stock will be overkill.

Yeah I wasn't sure or not if going with rods was unnecessary. But that's good though because nowI'm not going to be throwing a ton of money away for something I don't need. I'm actually starting to lean towards a t3/t4. From what I've read/been told it just has a lot better flow than the 16g for about the same price.

I am actually running stock rods with arp rod bolts and stock pistons with my 60-1 and have been doing so for many years with no issues. A good tune is in order with whatever you go with but the stock bottom end is very forgiving if the tune is good. Even with a bad tune, you could kill a built engine as quickly as a stock engine.

depending on how much boost you are going to run you may not need to upgrade to forged internals and just save the money for bolt on supporting mods

I had JE inverted dome top "forged" pistons put in with 1G stock rods. ACL race rod/main bearings and balanced and polished crank. They seem to do very well, but I don't plan on a 400 hp car either.

hmm I dont know I think I would at least like to have turbo pistons just in case. Even if they are just 2g's because that will save me money compared to getting forged pistons.

Good idea...but I've seen various forged pistons by different manufactures for the 4G63 at pretty good deals. ($400 on the average if you look around). I can find some for you if your interested.
