Went to Cordova Raceway to see if I could hit 11's before the year is over, and didn't think I was going to get it. Ran a 12.17, 12.11, 12.06, then 11.95, and the last pass was a 11.91. I was thrilled to say the least. Couldn't hook up very good, it's time for some suspension!

Here's the breakdown.....

R/T .235
60' 1.699
330 4.930
1/8th 7.609
MPH 90.32
1000 9.951
1/4 11.919
MPH 114.37

Evo III 16G, bone stock engine (other than balance shafts removed) stock tranny/drivetrain, and stock suspension.

How many MPH would you pick up with a set of cams? 3-4 MPH???

The perfect end for the year for me, I set out a number of small goals, and acheived them all! Can't wait till next year!

I ran 11.82 @ 117.55mph a few weeks back with 272I/264E HKS cams and the Evo III 16G. :) And I ran 118.02mph last year. In my 3315lb car (with me in it). The cold weather really wakes this turbo up.

You would definitely get some more mph out of the turbo with cams.

Nice runs! :thumb: Congrats on breaking into the 11s! Were you as loud as I was when I saw the 11 second time on the board for the first time? ;)

I was testing out all the various HKS cam combinations. Didn't really see any difference in airflow between them all.

I was running around 24psi at the top end, but around a 30psi spike after I shifted that came down slowly.

Pump gas or Race gas?

Thanks for the compliments. I was running race gas, although I don't think I really needed it, considering it was 48 degrees out. Every pass I was logging zero knock, and was leaning out every run. I was running 26 psi steady (on the stock HG/studs :thumb: ) and don't think it will take anymore than that.
I wanted to weigh my car at the track, then totally forgot about it once I got there. I would be curious to see what my car weighs with me in it.

I have been looking into cams, and I am leaning toward the FP series of cams, since they are supposed to be comparable to the HKS for less $$$.

It's nice to see you guys running 11s and trapping 117-118mph on the Evo 3 16G. I still don't understand why many guys with the 50 trim still struggle running 12s

Many of the new england dsm crew were running in the 11's this season with the evo 16g. Its amazing to see these accomplishments with minimal supporting mods. thats why im hoping to see 11.7xx with my setup. stock suspension OMG you must be jumping all over the place

any fwd evoIII 16g guys??? i'm curious to know what you're running. i'll be getting my evoIII 16g this winter. i was trapping 103-106 consistently with the 14b, 3/s fuel pump. stock injectors though :( i'll be getting 550's this winter also.

With the proper supporting Mods a FWD should be able to easily do 110+ on pump gas, I trapped almost 111 in my heavy ass AWD.

Stock drivetrain? (stock clutch?)

Comp cams, pretty much the same as the Fp but i gained ~35awhp on my small 16g with these cams. On race gas and ~15awhp on pump. Gained ~mph and droped .250 seconds.

Also this was the street grind 100's

No, I guess I should of clarified, I have an aftermarket clutch/flywheel. I meant stock diffs, sorry.
As far as the suspension, actually the car is very easy to drive. Shift-no-lift makes everything nice and smooth, but I think I would hook much better with some suspension upgrades. Besides, it's always fun when your car squats when you get in it in 5th gear.

Thanks for the info on the cams NewB!

What size injectors are you guys running to get these times? And do cam really make that much of a difference with the 16G?

Cams make a huge difference with a 16G.

And I'm running 660s. I'd suggest 660s or larger (if you have DSMLink). If you only have an AFC, stick with the 660s. 550s are too small.

I am running 660's as well, I have never logged the duty cycle, but I imagine I have quite a bit left in them.

thats a very ignorant comment. do u realize that once u go "BIG" turbo, its very hard to keep it spooled between shifts. u have to shift so fast which sucks cause u all know how dsm trannies are. thats one downfall about going big turbo. as the 16g's are alot easier to keep spooling between shifts. not to mention the evo316g is not too far away from the 50 trim in producing lbs/min. numbers. i chose the 50 trim for my own reasons, and i love it. :dsm:

anyway congrats man. and shape ive seen your car in action at new england dragway. it definetly hauls ass. i have no personal experience with the evo316g (only the big16g) but damn is that turbo efficient. i am continually impressed with that turbo every day. congrats guys :thumb:

Im running 550's and i have not logged duty cylce but i do think they are enough. The car made 338awhp on racegas with this setup. I know people who have gone 11's on a 50trim style turbo at around 120mph on 550's granted then they were probably done. Also im runing the 190 pump with no rewire.

And as to the 50trim comment, personaly i like it. #### you guys if you go with a 50trim and cant produce times. Its not our falt we got all we could out of our smaller setups. I have beaten numorus 50trim cars from a dig and roll. Most people dont take the time to set up the car properly and thats why they do not run well. And the 50trim today is like the 16g was 2 years ago, eveyone is getting them so you have to expect people running good and bad times with them. This is no offence to the guy who has the 50trim in this post. Just my opion on the subject since it was brought up.

I like my 56 trim, but it does indeed take alot more (it seems in comparison to other turbos I've had) to get it, and everything else running right. But that's not the point. Congrats to all the guys out there kickin ass with the EVO III 16G!!! :thumb:

You are only running 111mph. At 111mph, my car was fine on 550s. I was at 111 to 112mph for year on the small 16G, and my IDCs were over 90%, but still OK, IMO.

At 118mph with the Evo III, I was well over 100% IDC with the 550s.
