hello all i'm new to the dsm world. my brother gave me his 95 Mit. Eclipse GSX auto trans with 1g injectors and turbo because he couldnt get it running. I'm a mechanic, a diesel mechanic. and not the greatest with gassers but i got it running. Now i've done a fair bit of research and i think i figured out my problem with this car. it stalls when coming to a stop(stop sign, red light ect.) i think its becuase its because the BOV is going to atmosphere. Am i correct or do i need to look for something else. Also i done i have anything else to look for? i'm not lookin to make this thing go fast i just want it to run and drive. any suggestions would be great.

PS i found this car doesnt have a map sensor on it. and i dont like the condition of the maf. will it run ok with out these input(yes MPG will be terrible but its got to be better and my diesel at 20mpg) oh and if you have BOV plumbing you want to give me i'm in the Chicagoland area. anything anyone recommend i need/get

thanks,
Brad

Welcome to the forums Brad. Yes, a vented BOV will cause your car to stall out at stoplights. It needs to be re-circulated back to the intake. Some times a bad ISC(idle control motor) will do that too or a big boost leak, but most likely it's your BOV. As far as the map sensor goes they are there as a back-up just incase your maf dies it will use the map sensor. If your map sensor is completely missing and there is a hole on the intake manifold where it's supposed to go then that will cause a boost and vacuum leak and the car will want to stall b/c the air was already calculated by the maf sensor and it's not making it to the cylinders and will run rich.

i was also told that its not the original manifold so i dont see any holes for leaks. my brother said it was a evo 3 cyclone manifold?? if i knew how to post pics i would

2G's don't have MAP sensors, they have MDP sensors. It is used to verify that the EGR function is working correctly. If the sensor is completely missing then you will have a hole in the intake manifold and will need something to plug it up. I have a spare if you need.

For the BOV dump tube, many DSMers buy some plumbing at Home Depot. It works fine.
