New guy here and i need help

Hey everyone the name is Norrek From Killeen, TX. Anywayz I have a Problem, Today i got a Deal on a 98 GSX ($800, there went my tax return) and it still runs, minor body damage. The Car had been sitting at a local Tranny/Engine shop for some time and once i asked about it two months ago the owner decided to get a Mechanics lean and sell the car to me just so it could be gone...So here i am all excited about finally getting the GSX I alwayz wanted...it runs it has AWD, a functional turbo...the interior is a little worn out...but overall i got over...or so i though...so i take the car for a test drive it runs well...no problem except the knocking noise in the engine...The reason the car was there in the first place...hahaha I'm slow i know...but thats not the bad part...I payed for the car and signed took over the pinks without looking under the hood, myself...all my friends did(and their slow behinds didn't see it either)...anyways i was to happy revving up the car to hear the BOV whistle...then finally when the transactions were done...my Dumb @$$ decided to look under the hood, only to realize................the Damn thing has a 2.4 TURBO HYUNDIA MOTOR IN IT....AND I'M LIKE WTF...WHERE'S THE 4G63T? Needless to say, The mechanic wont give me my money back and although the car runs and is still pretty quick i have no idea what to do with this motor...So thats where you guys come in...can someone explain to me how this happened...is it supposed to be a hyundia motor in there...I feel so blasphemus...:cry:
 
Thats a hell of a deal if you got a 2.4 engine with it.

Dont be mad, be happy. Hell, if you dont want it, Ill take it off your hands.

The 2.4 motor is a upgrade, its the 4g64. I think it gives you approx 100 torque more then the 2.0 setup.

And if you dont believe that its normal.. Look here
 
it may just be a hundi valve cover... since hyundi used the 4G63 also. Or it has a 4G64, which is a 2.4, and is a big up grade, its a stroker so you can have alot more torque.... once I went 2.4 on my gsx I'll never go back to 2.0.... maybe a 2.1 so I can rev to the moon but that would be it. hey if you dont want it I'll send you $850 tommorow

take some pictures of it and post them, one of the valve cover, and then if you look on the block down by the alternator there should be a flat spot which says 4G63 or 4G64.... you should look and see what it has.

oh okay...thanks guys i guess i did get over then....i actually planned on making this car the track car for my local team i have MySpace.com - 24 X-RATED - 23 - Male - KILLEEN, Texas - www.myspace.com/24xrated we planed on building it up...and according to what you guys are saying it sounds like i cam up on the perfect car...all i want is 10's in the quarter and i'll be set...so i guess its a keeper then huh?
 
what are you planning on running for a turbo... oh and if your serious about 10's, I would pull the head, get it built and make sure that the engine is built. Then get some fp3x's for cams, a gt35r series turbo, and some A1 headstuds... oh and all supporting fuel mods.

and thats just a start to what you need
 
sounds like you've been there before....really not sure cause we have a team budget...and the 10 second range is an "eventually" goal.... I'll try to post some pics of it tomorrow when i find the time...thanks for all you guys help now i can finally go to sleep...:thumb:
 
my car hasnt been ran since it was on an evoIII16g, and it was running 12.4-12.5's then. I'm hoping for lower 11's this summer with the set up listed in my profile... i may have a built head and larger cams but that would be about it. Oh and a new baller fmic set up that my shop is going to be making.
