I made it out to test the car earlier tonight, taking one last stab at leaning into the old setup before swapping to the new go-fast head. I know it still has more left in it, but I'm too excited about the new parts to search for what remains. Here is the play-by-play.

Pass #1 - left the line relatively soft and got a baseline on the wheelie bar setup before the damn wire at the solenoid to the fuel pump decided to pop off in 2nd gear at about the 330' mark. I coasted to 11.1 at 81mph, 60' was 1.45 and 330' was 3.928.

Pass #2 - full pass at 39psi. There are some new bumps in the right lane and it wasn't prepped at all past the 1/8th, so I lifted at about 1000ft. Still too soft off the line at 12psi
1.415 60'
3.852 330'
5.789 1/8th
8.962 at 147.48mph 1/4

Pass #3 - boost to 41psi. I changed some damper settings and put the launch boost at about 17psi. It rattled the tires and I had to pedal it in 1st to get it to clear up.
1.3927 60'
3.8217 330'
5.7647 1/8th
8.9098 at 154.15 1/4

Pass #4 - still 41psi but add 0.5-1deg timing. Launch boost at 15psi and a minor wheelie bar adjustment.
1.3698 60'
3.7419 330'
5.6761 at 123.96 1/8
8.7960 at 155.12 1/4

Video coming soon.

Kevin, are you using solid motor mounts all the way around? I only ask because this thread (and modification) has really heated up.

BTW, great job.

No, I'm running rubber mounts at 3 points and one mount off a spherical. I'd be afraid of breaking the block with solid aluminum mounts. I would be very surprised if any block mounting bosses lived through tire shake with solid mounts.

Kevin

Those are amazing numbers. You are not that far behind the AWD's. It takes tons of time, money and practice to achieve this.

I too am a proud fwd owner! Awesome times, I'll never be there =D glad you are though!

never thought about that with the solid mounts....
but i think i am still going to do it. my car dosent make enough power to hav real problems.
any way great job on the times... and way to make those awd boys scared and on there heals!

Awesome job. What are the goals for the new powerplant? It amazes me to see those times!

that's very impressive. GET THOSE VID'S UP!!!

Very Nice Kevin!! Cant wait to see these vid's :)

Not to get O.T. but Paul that divided manifold, and twin WG set-up is HOTTT!!! :rocks:

This was at Milan Dragway on a normal test and tune night, so no special track prep. I'm still running a near-stock 2g head. The new head is also a 2g head and with a 2g size port at the manifold flange. The main goal is better than 8.50's by the end of the season, which I hope to be a lot better than actually.

Kevin

Ya, thats a pretty amazing time. Congrats, hope you hit your goal of 8.50's that would be awesome.

Nice video. Did that launch feel as smooth as it looks? It looks like a bullit being shot out of a gun; just bang and your gone! Amazing, i'm glad to see someone building a FWD DSM to that level. :rocks:
