Hi all, my name is Robert.
I do not own a dsm, however i would like to pick up a 1g talon/laser or eclipse some day.

I have a turbo that i need help identifying. i acquired this for free so i don't know much about it other then i think it is a 16G

I saw the thing that tells you what your turbo is by the numbers stamped on it, however as you can see, the numbers are gone on mine. the wastegate is off because its rusty as hell and i feel the need to clean the rust off it and possibly paint it.

Almost positive that is a small 16g.

Based on the blades, it looks like a small 16G.

I sort-of knew that much.
one more thing, Where can i find replacment parts for it? the turbine housing has a few cracks in it and a bolt/stud stuck in it. and the turbine's fins are a little chewed up but not really that bad. it still spins freely and doesn't touch the housing at all. there is really no shaft play either so i do not think it needs a rebuild.

Pretty good deal, chances are it's a small 16g, the serial numbers as you said won't be of any help here. Since you're rebuilding it you could measure the compressor wheel if you want to be 100% sure

Small 16G: 1.830" inducer, and 2.360" exducer
Big 16G: 1.893" inducer, 2.680" exducer
EVO 16G: 1.903 inducer, 2.680" exducer

yea its a small 16. I strained my eyes figuring it out and use more then one magnifying glass but i saw very tiny like it was the very end of the stamp punch, the numbers 520. thanks!

now, is this turbo better then the stock turbo on a 1g?

Yes. It out flows the stock 1g turbo so it would be a good bolt on.

Definitely :) 1gs can come with a 14b or 13g IIRC

sweet deal!. ive been searching and searching, i can not find a turbine housing for this to replace the cracked one.
i have seen so many pictures of 16g turbos that have a square shaped turbine inlet with humps inbetween the bolt holes, mine is completely square/rectangular with no humps or curves. i do not know the difference so should i be looking for a specific housing or will either one fit?

there are also cracks where the wastegate flapper is, another reason id like to replace it to avoid any boost related issue.

Look for a 7cm housing. It's a good upgrade. Do not buy a cheap one off eBay. There are terrible.

anyone got one i can have? LOL.. my searching is producing no results. and right now i just want to rebuild this thing and get it prepared to be installed because as soon as i get a new car its going in. literally, ill install this in the person's driveway and drive it home with a bigger turbo then i bought it with. ;)
