I researched this and found that my problem could be lifters.
I also read I need to use better gas.
But I wanted to ask everyone's opinion first. I have a new engine I brought with Forged Eagle Rods and Wiseco pistons .020 over.
My engine now knocks at ideal but when I give it gas it pertty much gose away.
The knocking isnt really loud but its noticable.

So, what do you guys think? Is there anything to worry about?

If you hear a physical knocking noise I'd definitely recheck your timing to make sure everything is set correctly. Could be the valves making out with the pistons but I doubt that'd last very long.

Post a couple of model numbers for your pistons & rods so we can make sure ya got the right ones in there.

Otherwise if you're getting knock (pre-detonation) under acceleration there could be a few different reasons you'd be experiencing knock.

If you give it gas and it goes away I believe it's the lifters, rod knock will get louder the more gas you give it. Ticking lifters really aren't too loud, they're noticeable but the sound would be coming from the valve cover area. Rod knocking you would hear it louder in the block area. When I rebuilt my engine 1 lifter was ticking for about 5 minutes then it went away...

Here's a video of lifter tick

Also using a heavier grade oil will help ticking lifters ...but if you drive the car in a winter environment that might not be possible ..as a thinner oil will make them louder.:talon:

Well if he just rebuilt the engine I would just run a thinner oil since it helps break the rings in better. I ran 10W-30 in mine, it probably ticked for 20 minutes idling then it went away and never heard it again. The head is usually the last place to get oil, so it may take awhile for the lifter to get well lubricated for it to no longer tick.

Thanks guys for your advice and hopfully its nothing and will go away soon. Christmas cleaned me out. LOL
My car use to be very dependable, well not so much anymore.

yes, please let us know. I just built my head on my gsx and its got lifter tick kinda bad but the car hasnt ran long enough yet so I hope it goes away but after it starter I put lighter oil in it.
