New ECMlink is choking my car

So i just bought a used ECU from 1997 GST which was socketed and it came with ECMlink. After installing it in my 1996 GSX i didn't have to swap wires because i don't have angled sensor. So i connected it with all proper values and turned on my car. right after the start the car started choking... I know this ECu was in another car, my question will be - what values do i need to change to bring the idle RPM back to 750. Right now the ECM log shows that its between 500-600 but on my dash its literary like 200 rpm. Car ran fine on its stock ECU, so its definitely a new ECU that was tuned to a previous car. The car doesn't stall and i even ran for 15 miles no problem except idle choking. Please help me with what i have to change in values and where to bring the idle RPM back.. I recorded the log today but will upload it tomorrow for u to see whats going on.:cry:
 
I would perhaps start by watching the Demo videos posted on the DSMLink website. (Here)

You need to verify that you have the correct values in place for your injectors. (Global/Deadtime) And that if it has any sort of MAF/Airflow adjustments then zero those out.

Make sure no tune is on the car if your car is stock then everything should be cleared out. Just go get a tune and you will be good. Or like above read all the guided on ecmlinks website and be safe tuning.
 
I am not gonna go get a tune, this is the reason i bough ecmlink, so... i watched the video and got the idea on what i should do, except mine is reverted, on the idle rpm set up, i set the value to 750. Actual rpm on screen shows 500-600, not even close to 750... but ill try to figure something out... hopefulyl i am not gonna screw up anything...
 
You need to set up injectors, then start playing with airflow, link is a really easy program to use once you figure out what you should be logging and how changing x value effects Y
 
Contact BrokenTSI here, he could do a remote tune and get everything running right.
 
Remote tunes are doing decent prices tons of tuners on here. I personaly love my1gdsm he tunes great. I recommend you get a tune first so you dont mess up your car like your saying. If you dont know what to do learn of your tune, i just dont want you to mess anything up. But more power to you, just study and keep learning the tuning ways you will eventually get it after some time.
 
If your really dedicated its going to take a lot of reading and honestly if your car is stock then you should just load a tune from a regular stock car onto your car and then start from scratch so you don't mess anything up.

Just load out a stock gsx table and follow the multiple guides on how to use dsmlink from there,

Along with that double check everything before starting the car when doing this, keep in mind your taking all the risk by tuning it so its best to do it right. Im personally looking towards TedSpec since hes a local tuner in my area but I have heard nothing but good things from the remote tuners on the forums.

Btw DSMLINK is worth it whether you tune your own car or not its an amazing tuning program for a great price in my opinion.

Verify your ISC is properly functioning by capturing, and displaying ISCPos. After you've done that verify your ISCPos is at or near 30. If it isn't, then rotate your BISS clockwise or counter-clockwise to achieve this outcome.

So i just bought a used ECU from 1997 GST which was socketed and it came with ECMlink. After installing it in my 1996 GSX i didn't have to swap wires because i don't have angled sensor.

When installing a '97 ECU that has been converted to EPROM on a car with a 1g or 2gb cam angle sensor, you would not need check the box to invert the CAS and swap plug wires, as the signals should be the same as the ECU is expecting to see. However, if you are installing it in a car with a '95/'96 cam angle sensor, you do need to check the box to invert the CAS, as well as swap the plug wires.

Your next post should contain some info about what you've done in regards to those sticky threads as well as a log. You trying to explain your issue doesn't help us at all. A log will tell me more than you can.
 
You said you didnt change your wires! Why? As you put in a 97 ecu which means its wires are moved around correct! We have to do the same if it was a 95-96 ecu so if you own a 96 and put a 97 ecu in then of course you have to swap the ignition wires around.

I hope I am not wrong on this as im getting it soon and from what I have read this is what has to happen!

I agree with checking ISC (Idle Speed Controller) function. Also may want to look into the proper procedure for setting base idle.

Setting the idle value to 750 rpm, in the OP case, doesnt mean that the car will idle at 750 rpm, especially if you have ISC problems. You are getting the lower idle for another reason. I would have to guess ISC problems. There is also a Basic Idle Set Screw that you will hear called the BISS. Please follow proper procedure for setting the base idle and see if your idle problems are resolved.

You swap wires only if u have angled sensor. If you don't swap them apparently, your car won't even start. Mine did without any problems or check engines lights.

I mean if this ECU was tuned for another car, so probably its holding some values that another car needed in order to run properly, well since i have a different setup, would disconnecting it and let it sit for 15 min be enough to get rid of this problem ? Otherwise ill have to mess with all that idle stuff. Its not that i dont want to, i just see no point of it right now, i would rather do that when i have bigger injectors and pump installed.

You should learn how to tune the car as soon as you can, if you plan on doing it yourself. Have a stock setup will make learning easier. You don't need to wait until you get bigger injectors or a different fuel pump just to tune the car.

You can reset factory ECU settings VIA EcmLink.

If your on stock injectors there is nothing you really need to do. You can adjust the tps in link set the knock and coolant temp cel. I would leave it stock until you wanna upgrade. But if you do Try dial in the injectors and match the airflowperev, etc etc etc and you can lean out the injectors close to 11.1 on pump gas just watch for knock and timing. Continue read up the ecmlink tutorials.
 
I had a bad oil leak somewhere, mechanic said it may be somewhere where pulleys are located, so i decided to fix that and change the timing belt, after i am done i will update this post with a log and we can move it to log subforum.

When i read the article on swapping plug wires they said that if i dont have angled sensor then i dont need to swap wires, and my car has such instance, it may be located somewhere else, but like it was illustrated on the picture, i dont have to swap it, when ill get the car back, ill still try and swap them just to see if thats going to make any difference...
 
If you read the article, the picture is only to help you determine if you have a '95/'96 cam angle sensor (not an "angled sensor" as you keep referring to).

You do have a '96/'96 CAS (as the picture shows), but you're not using a '95/'96 ECU. The '97 ECU is expecting a 1g/2gb ('97-'99) CAS, and since you're running it with a 2ga ('95/'96) CAS, you need to swap plug wires and check the box in link to correct the signal differences.
 
So yesterday i receiver my Wideband Innovative MTX-L gauge with a bung to weld into my downpipe (still deciding whether or not i am going to do this)... excited to see some accurate numbers... The car is still in the garage, mechanic is being retarded, takes him a week to do a timing belt... Ordered Evo560cc injectors from on of the DSMers here (50k miles on them). 2 days ago bought walbro 190 fuel pump for 35$ (just a pump) they are actually smaller than i expected them to be, not even funny.
