How rare is my "new" car?

To my knowledge, I have only seen one AWD DSM without a moonroof once. So here's the question...
How rare is a 95 TSI AWD 5 speed without a moonroof?

I bought it Saturday but I'm stuck at school right now and won't even be able to see it again until the weekend. I'm so pumped.

Ask some of your local parts guys if they know anyone who can do it on the side. In the olde dayes, they were all put in at the dealership, and that sort of add-on on probably what you'll be going with. It's really not a horrible job, and they allow enough trim area that you don't have to be a damned artist to get them in.

Electric 2G sunroofs show up on eBay fairly often, and don't go for much money.

I have a 95 tsi FWD without a moonroof. All of the other ones I have seen had moonroofs. So I would say they are kind of rare.

1998 Talon TSi AWD, no moonroof. My 92 Eclipse had a moonroof, I was happy when I found an AWD without one.

are the moon roofs from the talons and eclipses different--i seem to have a strange moon roof-- it doesn't have the auto back buttons just one button which is the tilt and when you hold it down then it moves all the way back, but you have to hold it down until it does?? My car has some strange options installed in it--an Alarm called EVS-electronic Vehicle security 2--from mopar??--a k40 undetectable sonaradar??and lastly a hollandia sunroof, which seems different from eclipse sunroofs?? I dunno--I'll try to post picture--by the way my car is a 95 talon tsi awd-W/ vented rotors??

94 fwd tsi, with.... and yes i hate it. the thing leaks like crazy. I'm sure there's a thread on fixing it, I'll hafta look for it later.

OH, and as for getting one installed... a few years back I installed one on my Summit myself. It just took a lot of balls to do that cut through the roof. I think the moonroof I got was from a cavalier or beretta. But anyway, I managed to cut it right and got it in there just right so it really never leaked.

Lol its one button in all of them. Thats how the stock ones are!

Friend of mine has a 95' Talon TSi AWD and it does not have a sunroof or even leather for that matter, its about to get a 6 bolt though Im in TC Michigan and there are talons galore but 1 or 2 eclipses besides the 3G's. Im trying to buy a 91-99 Eclipse or Talon but no luck in michigan, let me know if you guys find something

When the TSI was purchased the moon roof was an option. As with the GSX the moon roof was standard. That said, a GSX without a moon roof would be more of a rare find.

Hey Defiant! You mention the rules about moonroof/sunroofs in rally racing. I am building a 90 model GSX for Rally and was wondering what needed to be done about my stock moonroof? Sorry for the off topic post!

As for my moonroof in my 91 model, the damn thing leaked so I removed it. 3/8" lexan, 1/2" strip of 26 gauge sheetmetal around the edge, two tubes of 3M yellow, 32 rivits, and VHT nightshades to darken it up so I don't get sunburned.

sorry another off topic thought, how rare is the black interior for the 1Gs (you know the one with the carbon fiber looking center fabric). i have only seen three DSMs with it and I own two of them.

I have what appears to be an aftermarket sunroof, its got 2 buttons on the side of the latch that have to be pushed in to raise and lower the sunroof, anyone else have that type?? Ive never seen one like mine before. Oh, and it leaks but not too bad.

Misc. sun/moon roof question...Did 1gs not come with power sun/moon roof? All the ones I've seen have been the crappy manual kind, and reading this post made me wonder......
I'm glad mine doesn't have a moon roof. I don't care for them much, after the last couple of cars I owned that had them (leaked everywhere, noisy, plus I always forgot to close them and rain got in the car, ).

one roof slides back and forth and the other opens upward. i forget which is which though.

it would be pretty cheap to install one yourself but i for one don't have the balls to cut a hole in my roof.

A moonroof opens upwards while a sunroof slides backwards. On some vehicles however the unit can function both ways, though I have only seen this on a few vehicles. (ie... S14 chasis 240s, and early model celicas for instance have a dual function sunroof.) Either way it is a waste to have as it weakens your chasis. IMO it is pointless because there is really not that much of a difference from just having your windows down and if you want the open air you would be better served to purchase a convertible.
