Hi everyone, my name is Megan. I'm 18 and just bought my first Eclipse today, well yesterday since its after midnight. Anyway It's a green 96 RS, 5 speed very nice interior, and all around car. I have one problem, the original air duct that connects the air filter to the air intake I guess is missing, the original is not there and it was just a plastic hose that wasn't connected. I was told I could just buy one from the dealership. So I'm going to go tomorrow and hope to get one. Sorry this is the only pic I have of it right now "from the auto trader ad" But I will post more as soon as I get the chance! I also have a 74 5.0 mustang but the tranny went out and I needed a daily driver so I found the eclipse. I look forward to chatting with all of you!

dont buy one from the dealership, take apic to show exactly what you mean, you can prolly get an aftermarket intake for cheaper then a factory replaced.

Welcome and enjoy your stay :thumb:

420a motor. Your going to want to replace that pipe sometime soon(tomorrow sounds good)! You basiclly have no filter on the intake. WHo knows what you might suck up into the engine. Oh yeah welcome to the club. :thumb:

Megan - Welcome to the site. :thumb: See if you can get a picture of what you're talking about and we'll go from there. :dsm:
Definately.
You can try to find someone that has a 420a (rs/gs) and see if they've upgraded there car and have the original part for sale. If they do your in luck!

Don't goto the dealer as a first option...
There last.

Sorry everyone already got one from the dealership. It was 59 dollars. I expected it to be about that price. But it needs it, so I got it. Didnt want to worry about trying to find something equivilent elsewhere.

Umm..... my 420a didn't have no maf... what peice are you talking about... a aftermarket intake is 25 bucks on ebay for 420A's.....

comes with filter silcone and clamps....

0wn3d at the dealership...

BTW Welcome

I got new pics!

Too bad you didnt have those pics before you went to the dealership and bought that intake. I have one in my basement that you could have had for free..... Oh well....
So, what you pay for that car and how many miles does she have?

PS - Not to be a dick or anything, but only your name and pic is allowed in your signature. No other text. The mods will remove it if they see it. Just giving you the heads up. :thumb:

Welcome.

It looks like the eclipse will be your daily driver while the mustang is your project car.

Have fun with both :thumb:

Thanks for the heads up. I paid 3,000 for it! 150 dollars a month for 18 months. It was for sale for 5700 but they guy marked it down to auction price because he was going out of buisness. It has 88,430 miles. The check engine light just came on tonight. Should I be concerened? Everyone told me not to worry that its probably just a glitch, and someone else said it might be O2 sensers.

Can anyone tell me the official color name for my car? I'd like to buy some touch up paint for a few places on the car.

I just bought the air duct, thought that would be all it needed. What is MAS?

it goes in bewteen ur intake and air filter, reads and meters in air flow to the ecu. I dont think the 420a engine has it though. About the color if u look back in ur engine on the firewall there should be a label that says DSM on it and it gives make, model, and all the info it has color code listed there somewhere.

I saw that, but its very faded and I couldn't read the print.

I had the same problem with my Laser. Give the dealer your VIN number and he can tell you what the color and color code is. There is many aftermarket paint people out there, so do some shopping and you can get a good deal. Unfortunatlly, my links to those are at work!! LOL. Good luck. :laser:

I have seen lots of them this color, I figured it was pretty common. I'm sure someone else on the board has one I can ask.
