Nice piece....but it gets you thinking when the plate itself costs almost half of what the entire pre-packaged deal is... :cool:
 
the coils and conectors are not cheap. He also give you all the hardware SS Bolts and instruction with the package deal.. Also the plate isn't cheap to make. It not a simple few holes. Plus material is thick as hell.
 
I believe he uses Chrysler coils... RRE lists Mitsu coils (MD303922) for $60..
I'm not saying any different about denying that these things are expensive, and Dv/DT seems to have really nice products, I just thing he is a little expensive. And I'm not sticking up for any other shop that has COP either. I would never had bought mine if I didn't get it dirt cheap and I have a FRH intake manifold going in.
But hey, if you want the bling....you pay..
 
Thanks for the comments about the plate I designed guys. I put alot of thought into designing it, and am glad to find that it fits absolutely perfectly. Glad you all think its pretty neat.
 
Good stuff Albert, makes my DIY kit look like a steaming pie of...well you get the idea.
 
It looks like an awesome product.So it won't work on 1gs? Are you planning on making a 1g setup? Also I assume obviously this gets rid of the mits coilpack but would it also get rid of the power transistor and would the boots need replacement once in awhile? This system uses no ignition wires basically.

Anyway the product looks great. :D

This coil on plug kit will also work for 1g's. The stock coils, of course, go bye bye.

The power transistor (i.e. stock ignitor) will remain. Unless however you are using an aftermarket ignition box. I personally did not have good luck with running the coils with a stock ignitor, however I do know people who have succeeded in using coil on plug kits with the stock ignitor. Then again my factory ignitor is also from 1995, making it about 10 years old.

For this reason I personally reccomend using an aftermarket 'ignitor' with this setup, such as the AEM C2DI or MSD DIS 2. So I guess with that I could say, results may vary, but be preparred to (if necessary) purchase a cdi to work with the unit.

Boots would never need replacement. Unlike conventional spark plug wires, which have a higher resistance between the coil and the plug (due to the wire) arc gapping can occurr around the boot area. However with the Coil on plug setup, this is far less likely to happen, due to the lower resistance between the coil and the plug.

Thanks for the comments on the plate guys, I like to think its a great mod to do. From a technological standpoint, I'd say it just makes sense.
 
I can't see why it wouldn't work on a 1G...just make sure the wiring is proper. I mean you can interchange 1g/2g coil packs providing you had the same triangle plug, and even then you could just figure out the wiring...theres only three wires on the connector, power, ground, and signal.
You don't need to replace the boots, it does replace the coil pack, and you still need your power transistor.
 
They can be run as sequential fire but you would need to get a standalone ECU that has 4 ignition triggers (1g AEM EMS, the 2g EMS needs re pinning)

Even still, this wouldn't be a huge gain, because with something like an AEM EMS you can (even with waste spark) control individual cylinder timing. The coils will just have half as long to charge. My guess is that at most peoples power levels, there would be only a very slight gain in power in running sequential fire, vs waste fire. The gain in power would pretty much only be seen from the decrease in charge time.

The reason I personally run these coils, is at 30psi and higher, my ignition seemed to become 'unreliable'. This problem is no more, since I have upgraded to the coil on plug. And yes, I am running waste spark/fire.
 
SBR has a nice kit but they just have a flat peace of metal.. This one is cnc and very thick. I just like how the coils sit on this one better.. I like the bling bling of this one.
