new apex'i exhaust....

hey i was reading through some magazines...and i saw an ad for an apex'i exhaust called the "ps revolution" they say its going to be available for mitsubishi cars along with a few others... its says its available on the apex'i site but i went and it wasn't there. it has a pic it looks like its like an extra filter just inside the exhaust tip or some sort of rotor..i cant really tell...if its a rotor or a fan i guess thats why the would call it the "revolution" but i dont know...anyone have extra info on it? pic below:

It's a variable output exhaust, kinda like what's on the new C6 Z06 Corvette.

During Idle and cruising, the actualtor is half open due to low pressure coming off the exhaust manifold. Stand on the pedal at WOT and it will open and emit sound that would be almost illegal.

It's probably something like the first pic. At least I hope it is. If they sell a product that imitates a turbo spooling I will lose all respect for Apexi.

The other muffler always interested me. I would like to try it out, but I don't have an application for it (well, one that runs at the moment at least)

Ya thats what I read, very quiet under normal. When you go wot the center piece opens up & you get a straight through muffler. It looks like they are also making a silencer that will fit in their N1 exhaust, & I believe it will operate the same. Seems like a good idea to me, makes the cops happy that you dont have a straight through muffler & since it opens up just like a straight through muffler under wot you don't lose some of your performance like you do when you use those silencers with the small opening.

im sure apex'is goal isnt 2 imitate a turbo spooling up (hope not)..and i hope it doesnt sound like one either...but as far as the open/close feature i think its a good idea...but it sounds like an expensive idea . on the new vettes huh? so wat do you guys think of it? waste of money or worth it?

seems like that would be a restriction when at WOT... they mean well, i guess it would be good when cruisin on the highway, but it HAS to increase backpressure

it looks to me like the negatives outweigh the positives. Unless i am looking at it wrong, even if the hole opens up at WOT, there is still a sizeable reduction in actual tip diameter. not to mention if it were to malfunction it would create insane backpressure and do more harm than good to exhaust flow...
