New alternator.. wierd result ?

Alright so upon my car dying FOUR times on the way in from out town.. and on the way to a meet... I found out the alternator was shot, long story short I got it towed to my house and took the alternator up to the local auto zone-which failed all 3 of their tests..

I got home, got the new one up with the help of my buddy Stephen, let it idle for a bit.. walked around the tail pipe and noticed about a 1ft x 4in wet oval spot on the ground right underneath my muffler.. I thought I was just seeing stuff so I grabbed a light, and there is wet black dots all through out this spot, I rubbed it with my finger and it was pitch black.. NO idea what this is.. ? Im still learning on these cars.. any info would be well appreciated.
 
its just condinsation coming out of the tailpipe due to the cold weather. every car does it when they are cold and let sit at idle for awhile.

+1 Boy did my car give me a scare when it first started getting cold. Straight pipe + autozone fart can = a lot of water vapor and an ocean.

If you give it some gas, you might get a shower when its doing that ROFL
 
Wheeew! ( not sure how else to imitate showing a sign of relief) I figured it was condensation, I just didn't know if the black bits and pieces were normal... Thanks fellers !
 
It's especially bad if you're not running a catalytic converter. Even worse at WOT with no cat.


I'm in Oklahoma, the state where the cops don't care a car has 3 donuts and is still doing 75 on the highway. Gotta love no inspection ..

Also please don't tell me I will start getting the black crop dust cloud above the muffler like Honda fart cans.. not on my white baby :(

Same here in Ohio. Cat is a federal thing, but still. I can go through town backfiring on decel and all and Nothing's come of it.
 
Well the feds can suck my Cat's left nut and make the right one jealous , cause I'm catless. Ha !

I should throw together an alt shield box for those that don't wanna do a relocate. Box with a built in fan to cool that sucker down. I should probably got to the hangout. 2am on a sunday and alcohol is a flowin.
 
I'm in busy trucker town, they wouldn't think twice hearing a front bumper side exit exhaust. They're too busy making money busting trucks for oil rig companys for stupid things like light's that are out, overweight on one axle, papers, blah blah blah.

Come to think of it some numbnut in a Dodge diesel had a single stack mounted in the truck bed smack dab in the middle. Had at least 10" in diameter. Damn thing looked like a good place to throw trash down. You know that would f up his whole day someone throwing something in there... I couldn't help but fantasize...
 
how is your alternator related to your exhaust?

Well seeing as how my RPMs were at 400 -900 back and forth at idle until it died from an alternator that I probably could of gotten a better charge to my system by holding 2 opposite ends of magnets together... There was probably a tid bit more flow through the back... Haha. I have a feeling my injectors might not have been getting the correct power supply, as well as every thing else in the car.. hopefully I didn't screw things up too bad.. as if 600 in maintenance on a car that I spent 3k.on with specifying I didn't want to.spend money on bullshit, isn't bad enough ! But hey, at least she's runnin like a DSM now, not a horse and buggy.
 
alcohol is thinning my blood as we speak, throw me a wrench and ill swap my alternator in 15 minutes.

So uhh... I'm gonna see if I can slide this question in here... Anyone know where I could get a good tune for my car ? It's a non turbo, but its gonna stay like that for a while.
 
what are you expectations from the tune?

better gas milage?
or trying to haul some ass?

because, trying to haul some azz in a NA is hard!

but ive seen a few people here pull some good numbers with their na's
 
I could care less Bout some ####in gas mileage, that's about the stupidest thing.. sorry but if you drive a DSM for the sole purpose of gas mileage you should of bought a dam prius. Not saying "you " as in YOU, but you get my point. I want a good performance tune, that will allow to gladly cruise by some Honda farters when the time comes. Lol

But its still a 4g63 and therefor in my eyes is the GREATEST PIECE of METAL EVER ! And i just wanna give her a little kick, slow is better then extremely slow haha ! She has potential man... Let me dwell in the moment of my all Na CHUR Al vehicle.. so uhh.. where can I get a good tune .. ? :D

Tuning your NA car is like you getting your nails done (assuming you are a hetersexual male) LOL

Do all of the classic mods, CAI, ignition stuff and stuff. Only way to get better performance would be to get some fantastic pistons and build a head. You'll probably always be quicker than people like myself in a no-launch situation (me starting at no boost). There are boosted cars for a reason. Especially since N/A AWD on a 2.0 4 banger would just suck.
