Ok just so everyone knows my story:I have a 97 GSX Automatic. I got in a car accident 7 months ago when a Dodge 2500 drove over the top of my car while I was stopped. I fixed the damage then when i was driving my car on the first day I had it back my tranny went out. Turns out the impact had knocked my intermediate shaft out of my tranny and caused my fluid to leak out. After having it in 3 tranny shops that refused to rebuild it i bought a used tranny from miller imports. He guaranteed that it worked said it came out of a running car. Had it installed 3 times by two mechanics and it never would go into gear. I called John at IPT and sent him some pics and he told me that Miller imports sent me a 1g torque converter with my 2g tranny. So i buy a 2g torque converter and it goes in perfect. my car moves again. Now for the problem: It goes in reverse fine, but it wont shift properly while driving. When it is in drive it will start to pull from a stop then it acts like it kicks into neutral. It will go into low gear and it will shift manually but while it is in 2nd gear it will randomly jump into 3rd before it should and it has severe problems downshifting. Didn't get a chance to try out OD so i cant say whether it works or not.It really didn't act like it was slipping though, more like it had trouble shifting.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check the shift lever adjustment point on the trans where the shift cable mounts up. The sensor has two elongated bolt holes. Loosen and adjust the shift selector sensor until it properly engages all gears.

That is what sounds like your problem.

As well, Shep to the best of my knowledge does not build the autos. I do, IPT does, and a few other guys. Also check out www.atdsm.com as a good technical reference and forum for your transmission.

Here is a generic .pdf image out of the factory service manual referring to the shift selector assembly and the pulse generators. Check both the pulse generators to make sure they are plugged in properly (late 1G and 2G are the same), and the shift selector assembly adjustment point by loosening the two small (I cannot recall if they are 8mm or 10mm) bolts that retain the module, NOT the lock nut on the lever itself.

My mechanic just finished the adjustments and its acting exactly the same. We got a CE light and he ran it as 1750 shift solenoid . A few questions. Is this inside the tranny or outside? Where can i get a new solenoid. And would it be worth it to buy it or to buy another used tranny (includes torque converter and flex plate) from boost junkie? thanks
