Alright I just did the fuel pump rewire (stock pump), took my car out to test it (at 8psi), went to 7k in first then shifted, went to 6100 in second then it cut out (but not nearly as hard as fuel cut). So I decided to try again and this time when it cut out I held the gas in to see if it would pick back up, but it didn't. It dropped (with the gas pedal depressed) from 6200ish to 5400rpms then I let off the gas, hit the gas again, and it started moving again. Any ideas? I was thinking maybe ECU?? My vacuum gauge is still acting screwy (-12hg on cold start and moves up and down) but I'm almost 100% positive I don't have a vacuum leak. So, fuel injector caps, coil pack, transistor??? I'm going nuts over this stupid thing. I was hoping the rewire would fix this, someone help me.

i really dont think its fuel cut, it might be your ecu so pull it and see if your caps are leaking, smell it too if the ecu stinks then its leaking, but fuel cut sucks its like hitting a brick wall. and at 8psi i dont know why you would hit fuel cut on a stock tune stock ecu at 14 psi all day i never hit fuel cut but once i turned it to around 15-16 i got fuel cut. do you have a datalogger?

I have no boost leaks (checked 3 times in last month WITH soapy water). Stock fuel pump did the rewire yesterday. I just pulled my ECU out and looked at it and it has signs that the caps have leaked at some time or another. Does this mean I need a new ecu or just new caps?

depends on how bad the caps leaked,

That would explain some of the problems but I don't think it explains the vacuum readings. You may have more than one problem.

Ok so I talked to some Mitsu techs today while I was there buying a pcv valve, and they said it sounded like my fuel pump was dying. I did notice that after the re-wire I could hear my fuel pump whereas I couldn't before.

So can fuel pumps actually flow less fuel as they start to go bad or do they just go out all at once? Thanks

Generally speaking, a dying pump will suddenly not work one day. However, there are a few cases where the pump will give you signs that it's going bad.

A while back when I was still delivering parts at work, I had noticed that the delivery truck that I normally left running during my many stops would be shut off when I came back out of the customer's garage. A few weeks later the truck would shut off going down the road, but start back up once you cycle the key off and on. Not too many days passed and the truck had no power to climb hills, which confirmed a bad fuel pump.

To this day that was the only vehicle that ever gave a sign that the pump was dying. Every other fuel pump that died on me left me stranded.

That's what I thought too. I was thinking that maybe someone installed smaller injectors in the car, maybe from an automatic. Is there any way to tell the difference between 450s and the automatic injectors?
