Need Serious Help, I Blew My Turbo

Today i just got my new greddy front mount installed in my eclipse. As i was pulling out of the shop the car was fine, so i went to go on the highway and i wasnt even beating on the car but i was just letting the turbo spool in 3rd gear than all of the sudden i heard a loud noise and the car totally lost all power and stalled out. I am able to start the car but then a lot of black smoke comes out the exhaust than the car dies. but i cant produce any boost, so the car is basiclly done. What the hell happened. ( I have a Big 16G Turbo) I dont know what to do.

Just thought I'd try to lighten the mood. But hey...for what it's worth I think my turbo is pretty much shot. I used to boost 18 with it on my old motor and then alluva sudden it won't boost above 16...no matter what I do with the mbc. I did'nt wanna make you feel worse and say that if the car's dying then I don't think the turbo is the problem. Best of luck to ya though man.
 
Just installed the intercooler? With the symptoms given it sounds like you blew an intercooler hose off. Check all the connections on the piping. I bet you find one that's hella loose or disconnected.

No need to worry. Same thing happened to me. Check all your intercooler connections. It's not your turbo that's for sure.
 
Agreed with the rest Intercooler pipe blew. Car probably won't run when you try to accellerate right just starts to quit? Check the hoses one is probably blown forsure.
 
Like stated, your turbo is probably not blown. The same thing that happened to you is the same thing that happened to me last year the day my friend and I put on my Greddy FMIC. We had went down to Extreme Motorsports, and it was fine. But when I was pulling out of the parking lot, I decided to burn out a little, and slammed the gas. I heard a loud noise (intercooler pipe coming off from coupler). My friend and I panicked for a while, and tried all kinds of diags in the parking lot. Then I noticed the couple that leads down toward where the SMIC used to be had totally disconnected from the upper intercooler pipe, but they were still leaning together and it looked from a distance like they were fine. Your blowing black smoke cause fuel is flooding your combustion chamber and isn't buring. (running rich)

Edit: Check ALL your pipes and make sure their on tight. If you keep blowing them off, then replace all of them with Extreme Motorsports ones (very tight silicon couplers). Trust me, they won't come off, but their a bi*** to get on.
 
Defiately intercooler pipe like everyone has said, it happens to everybody. Scares the crap out of you when it happens because it's very loud but is really harmless. The car can't run because the MAS has no idea whats going on. Always check the small simple things first.
 
Problem solved, you all helped me out big time. The problem was that the hardpipe coming off my turbo (big 16g) meets the greddy pipe at a wierd angle and its hard to clamp it down. I think i might get the 45 degree coupler from extreme motorsports to get the angle. But what is the strongest clamp that i can get just in case, to be on the safe side. Thanks again
