ok guys..... I am doing a motor swap in my awd. Now my situation is, is that it is the weekend and I have my buddies parents garage tied up. You can tell my flywheel has heat spots in it, however it is smooth. Should I try and buy some time and get it resurfaced or can I run the one that I have??? Would it be bad to run a flywheel with heat spots???

Thanks for your wisdom tuners!!

you might be able to get away with it, take a straight edge to it and see if you can see light through the bottom anywhere, this will show you if the surface is true.

If it were me Id get it resurfaced, as much as I like doing DSM clutches twice.

Get it re-surfaced just to be safe or you might end up tyeing up their garage again next weekend when you're pulling the tranny because ht eclutch is slipping on the beat up flywheel. SUrfacing usually takes no more than an hour or so and runs in the 50 dollar range. I'm sure if you call around you can find a machine shop (or car parts place with a machine shop inside) that can so teh surfacing... You can also call around to stores that do clutches and see if they can machine it.. yOu'll need to have a 610 to 612 step on it, just so you knwo in case teh shop doesn't... This step height can vary depending on the clutch you have, but unless you were told other wise .610 is what OEM calls for
