ok..... you all have prolly heard this a 1000 times but when i try the ol' dsm pull the vacum line off the wastegate (STOCK) the car stutters at high rpms.... of course my first guess is that its not getting enough fuel for the increase in boost. im not really sure of how much boost b/c i still have stock and yes i know i need a aftermarket one cuz the stock ones are poo. but i do know that it is a considerable difference. is their any possible way i could solve this by t-ing off the line somewhere else or changing the fuel pressure somehow. when exactly is the fuel cut off on a stock pump-psi. it couldnt be more than 15-17 lbs. i am running with the vacum line off (but i wouldnt swear to it). Also i know its not plug and wires b/c for one i changed them and for two when i hook the vacum line back up to the nipple on the wastegate it runs perfect.......just not as fast . any ideas or suggestions...........cheap ideas and suggestions that is.

PS i have a big 16g!!!!!!

Um...if have no vacumm line going to the wastegate you are basically running infinite boost and the car studdering is telling you to quit doing that.

25+ psi ownz joo.

You're lucky the motor survived. You can do that in a 2g, it's a damned bad idea in a 1g.

What do you mean you can do this on a 2g. I had that done on my 97 gsx by accident. The line fell off... but anyways, everytime I would come off the throttle it would back fire and trip a cel. The reading on the cel indicated that it was a problem with the wastegate. that's how I knew where to look for the problem. But anyways, can you please explain this more...

Exactly. Most people with MBC's are maxing out the T-25 anyway.

I'm not saying everyone on hre should go out and do it; however, I know people who have, and you can definately get away with it.

On a 1g, you have a very slim chance of your motor surviving unscathed.

I've never heard that. Also, like L2R said - you're running infinite boost. I doubt that you're running 15psi-17psi of boost like that - a 16g has no problem hitting that much boost WITH the wastegate connected. Upgrade your fuel system if you want to get more fuel. I don't even know if you're hitting fuel cut - your car is probably knocking like crazy and retarding the timing as much as it can. I ran my car up to 27psi (when it was mostly stock) once when something similar happened to me. I didn't hit fuel cut, but I did feel the power die off. I was watching my boost gauge, so I let up on the gas immediately when I saw it wasn't stopping where it normally stopped (fast spooling turbo still got up to 27psi before I let off).

disconnecting the vacume line is just like cranking a boost controller ALL THE WAY DOWN-as in trying to run 35 pounds. All your doing is destroying your turbo. And you should have learned by now that your NEVER mess with boost on a car if you dont have a boost guage. A $50 guage is way cheaper then any shop fee for a head gasket...if your lucky ad thats all you screwed up.

Well said.
