need MBC recommendations

Im sure all of you have different Boost Controllers. But, which ones have you had experience with and which ones would you recommend for a 1G turbo?thanks

Im using a MBC from Dejontool.com . It works great and comes with everything you need, like: the T-fitting, coupler, nipples, and hoses. Easy installation too.

Personally, I HATE my Halman. Changing from 15psi to 20psi involves carefully loosening the lock nut so you don't change the screw and then just breathing on the adjustment knob and then CAREFULLY tightening down the lock nut so as not to upset the microscopic amount you just turned the knob. After 97 attempts it will be set right and you'll never dare to touch it again.

Do yourself a favor, get something like a TurboSmart that has a click style knob with no lock nut.

I'm personally gonna support the SBR MBC. It is very simple and very cheap. It is CNC Billit Aluminium and looks killer with the SBR logo. It uses stainless steel ball and spring so that the internals don't corrode. It is warrented for life. If it fails just pay shipping and you will recieve a new one. Very easy to adjust. If not that then JoeP is also very very good.

It holds rock solid. It is the ball and spring type also.

I have a Home Depot MBC. Cost me less then $5 to make and holds boost without a problem.

I am using a Hallman Pro Series MBC and I'm pretty happy with it. Its very easy to adjust - just turn the knob on the top of the unit to adjust your boost level. The unit retains your setting - I've been checking the MBC periodically and it does seem to retain its setting. This may not be your cheapest option though.

Using the Hallman i haven't had any problem's with it. I first bought it when i had a 7bolt and then did my 6bolt swap using the same boost controller. She works great with both!

I'm using Hallman EVO RX with the ceremic ball for quick reaction, adjustment is right under my dash.

Just make sure you get a ball and spring type and you should be fine. If you decide to make one yourself, make sure you drill a small bleeder hole on the wastegate side. Lastly, which ever one you choose at the end, make sure you don't tap the BOV line for pressure source even if the instruction tells you so. Good luck.

if you want to spend some extra cash the turbosmart controllers are top notch and easy to adjust. you can switch from 2 stages of boost from inside the car.

I just pruchased the same MBC that oldman has. It looks hot under the hood. I went with the anodized red and installed it on the top right 10mm screw on the left fan shroud. It sits right under the hood prop rod, just behind the radiator so it won't see as much weather. I will say though that you can expect to need 2 reducers\couplers and some bigger hose. The inner Diameter of the hose (5\32) they give you will fit your turbo housing and wastegate but will not fit the MBC fittings. I took (2) 2" of larger hose, put my reducers on the end and then hooked up my turbo\wastegate. I hope this helps. Kind of a pain but easy thought process. If the directions get confusing don't hesitate to ask more ?'s. Thanks again oldman!

Just wanted to update my post. Got another GS-T!!! I'm freakin excited. I know my name is still Red 4G63, but I have a green convertable now. Too bad I can't change my name.

Either way... I installed the Hallman MBC on the new car this past weekend. Seems to be still doing it's job, even after a near brush with the accident on the last car. (of course I stripped all the parts!!).

Got a bit of boost leak now with the stock IC pipes, I've been looking into those threads as well.

I'm going to be testing the boost pressures to see how accurate I can keep the MBC. Now that I'm back, I'll keep updating my posts.
