i'm a noob and I've been looking around but i couldn't find one that would really tell me how to convert a 2g rs to a 2g gsx. My questions are:

How much would it cost for a gsx conversion from a rs?

What parts do i need for the conversion?

I was thinking picking up a 90 gsx or tsi (junker or complete car with low miles) or should i just go for the 95-99 gsx (junker with low miles) and swap over the engine and others etc stuff to the 2gen.

But then would the awd sytem from a 90-94 gsx fit onto a 95rs?

A lot more time and money than it would be to buy a GSX.

The only 2g NT that is remotely practical to be converted to AWD Turbo is the 2g NT Spyder. You'd be better off buying a junker GSX and rebuilding the motor and getting it running again. Alot cheaper, and alot less work.

okay...How could a spyder be easier to mod to a awd than a rs and gs?

I think what he means is the fact that its not easier per say but perhaps it has reasoning behind it to keep the convertable. There is no such thing as an AWD turbo convertable unless you took the spyder and converted it. If you dont care about the convertable than it would save a lot of money and time by just getting a GSX.

The rs is like a show car..but i want a awd turbo so would i be able to transfer the body from the rs to a gsx? I mean like the fenders and headlights are transferable but i want to know if the top of body to the tailight and rear quarter panel. What i am talking about is the rest that is not connected to the bumper and fender. Would i be able to remove it and transfer it to a gsx?

You can swap anything you can take off.
That is about as broad as it gets.

You can move everything you listed...
Interior
Fenders
Hood
Rims
Taillights
Headlights
Bumpers
Rear Hatch

Many other things.
The items like rear quarter panels and such would be something you would have to attempt on your own but I wouldn't do it.

Why not simply quit trying to swap a car completely over and spend assloads of money and just buy the 2nd car and make sure it's an AWD TURBO model?

It's alot more sensible.

It would be cheaper and easier to simply purchase an AWD model.

Yea, I think the Sypder is the only non AWD model to have a tunnel for the center drive-shaft parts as well. That and the motor is not a 420a, its a variation of the 4g63 (4g64) so some of the goodies are interchangeable. There are a few people on this site that have done the AWD conversion in a spyder...do a quick search about it to get their names.

With apologies, we're not doing this again.

It has been done, it is very involved, it is usually quite costly -count on that if you're starting by asking about it- and the results still aren't as good as factory-built.
