Does anyone know how to install the energy suspension bushings for the sub-frame on a '90 AWD? the instructions it comes with are garbage

use a tourch and heat up and beat the old ones out or melt the old ones out and use a balljoint press kit and put WD40 or some type of lubricant on the subframe hole where the poly bushing will be going and press it in. when i installed poly subframe bushings in my front subframe i started the bushing lip in on a little bit of an angle to get it to start in alot easyer without tearing the new poly bushing.

its gonna be really tuff to press in but once its in and installed it will pay off in the end.

Polyurethane bushing install

I needed to use a torch for were the engine mounts and the rear trailing arm mounts. The rest of them I was able to hammer out placing a 3/8" extension through the hole and going to town on it. But I am also FWD.

I think the VFAQ page will help you immensely. You can use a Sawzall to go through the "sleeves" that are referred to and that should go pretty quickly. Otherwise, utilize a press, either your own or a shop because going the hacksaw method is not fun.

thanks guys but I'm done it all now. it was a lot of hard work but it sure looks nice :)

i told you it was gonna he tuff to press in but it pyed off in the end. im glad to hear that you got them installed and everything. would you be able to post a picture.

I could take a picture of it in the car as its already installed if you like, but I can never upload any darn pictures to this site anyway. It always said you need pictures 700 pixels or less or something like that.

open the pics in MS Paint, then reduce them in size 10% at a time until it is small enough.

put it on your photobucket account and click the insert picture button on the box you type in to reply back to this thread. when you click on it put the direct link URL in the box that pops up and your golden. it will automatically resize it if its to big.
