So I was driving to my Families house for Xmas and lots of smoke started coming out of the exhaust on my 98 Eclipse GSX. I do not know a bunch about cars however I am a pretty handy guy I just need some direction. I have been doing some reading on here pretty much all night and I believe I am in need of a new turbo. I will check the arm on the Westgate tomorrow but my question is if I upgrade to say the 16g small does it bolt right up and do I have to buy anything else? I noticed a few days ago I had like no oil in the car so I put some in then about 3 days later I was going down the highway and ungodly amounts of smoke was coming out of the exhaust so I pulled over and looked low and behold I was out of oil!! lucky for me someone came by and pushed me to an exit and asked if I had a turbo then told me he though the turbo seal went. I just hope I didn't destroy the engine! I went to my car today and put oil in and it started up so I know I didn't seize the engine. Anyway is there a tutorial anywhere on this site for a turbo swap and do you think I could be lucky and not have to rebuild the engine?

Take your intake pipe off the turbo and wiggle the center bolt inside for shaft play. If it moves a good amount especially if it touches the housing your seals are shot. If not you'll need to do a compression test on the engine. But its most likely just the turbo.

Thank you I am hoping that was it if it is would this be a good choice Note: it is my daily driver TD05 16g Turbo Charger 4g63 4G63T Mitsiubishi DSM 1g 2G Eclipse Talon Laser | eBay would this be all I need?
Building a reliable daily driver doesn't mean going to eBay and buying the cheapest Chinese-built garbage 16G you can put on your car. If you're not spending at least $500 on a new 16G turbo, it's not worth the box it's being shipped in.

Look for a good deal on a used T25 or T28 to get you out of the woods for now....either will be a 100% bolt-on turbo for your car. A 14B or 16G will require some creativity to install but is definitely doable- search the site a little as there are literally thousands of threads on the topic.
