I just got a safc2 from a member on here and i just installed my whole AEM wideband gauge except the o2 sensor. I didnt do that part yet because my car sits too low for my floor jack to jack my car up to plug it into the 2nd o2 sensor location. Im gonna get the sensor in tomorrow tho. I have no cat as well.

I just browsed through the settings to see what this safc is about, i didnt change anything except car select. i did 4 cylinder and the arrow i believe was point north east. and i also put it on Karman? it seemed the idle the best on karman. i have no idea what im doing or what it should be set at, all i know is that the car is running rich blowing carbon water and possibly unburnt fuel. i got a t-25 turb, injen intake, 550 rc injectors, upgraded internals. at 11 pounds boost. i dont want a monster machine but i do want power and a little more boost without running super rich. Also when i first started the car with the safc2 installed it showed me readings like throttle and vlts and other stuff and i did something and now all i have is 3 settings to choose from and i dont know how to get those readings back up, i have no instruction manual. LOL im a total noob at this a/f ratio and safc thing. someone help pleaseeee

Yeah i remember you said that somewhere, so which one did you choose?

Are you asking me about the wideband? If not I feel stupid for answering LOL, but if so I got the aem wideband the lc-1 didn't really read all that different it had ton's of extra wires cables to plug into a laptop and also had to wire in a switch to break the circuit becuase you would have to pull out your sensor from the exhaust then hit the reset switch then screw it back in.I prefere aem wideband just wire it into the ecu for ecmlink and works just as good no worry about open air calibration reads good and looks sleak. But as you can tell I wasn't thrilled about buying the lc-1 anyways is why I am ranting about it but don't get me wrong I am not dissing them they are great devices just not my style.:thumb:

So with the wide band you want it (or I do) to idle at around 14.5 -- 16.0 on the wide band and around there also for highway cruzing. The karmen setting simply monitors the amount of air your engine is taking in through the MAF sensor. In order to set it you have to first set your throttle points. High throttle I have at 40% or more and low throttle at 35%, also, on my SAFC one although it says "cylinders" it is actually referring to the number of ignition coils which is 2, although, this problem may have been fixed on the SAFC 2. Also, check that your SAFC is reading your throttle position sensor properly; i.e. 0% is normal and floored is 100%. Tune your low throttle through the RPM ranges, I think I started at -16 and went up around 2 points per 1000 RPM on the low range, and on the high range I can't remember exactly but something similar. When tuning, if at WOT it goes higher than 12.0 on the wideband let off immediately, mine is no higher than 11 when I am making any boost. I run this setup with a stock ECU and a 2.3l stroker + 60 trim and it is very drivable, so good luck. Sorry if some of this has already been said there were a load of posts and I didn't want to read them all..

16 a/f ratio on a wideband is really lean on pump gas unless it is E85.Just thought I say.You would more want a 14.5-14.9 a/f ratio, it's hard to get it even mine went to 15:1 but yea.Not sure if your throttle points are right about being 35% and 40% maybe more like low set to 40% and high at 70%.

Sweet already making progress. What wideband did you get?

well LOL not to be a smarty pants or anything but did you all look at my profile LOL? i got the aem uego. at idle it sits at or around 14.9. i havent got the chance to run it yet since my car isnt registered yet. But even if it was registered i wouldnt drive it yet til i got it running right! :thumb: plus oil change and whatnot. but as for the safc i basically tuned it off this

RRE's Super AFC Setting and Adjustment Tips

its not set exactly to any of those settings that guy has, but its set similar to this

2G Turbo Stock

T-25 turbo, RSR Cat Back, RSR DP-no cat, Filter, 14psi
Stock Injectors, Side and Lower honeycombs out, Adjusting screw backed out flush
Low Setting:
1K +50 2K +18 3K +10 4K +8 5K +6 5.5K + 6 6K +6 7K +6
High Setting:
1K +0 2K -1 3K -1 4K 0 5K 0 5.5K +3 6K +4 7K +5
TH-Point
Lo 20% Hi 60%

except if you look at my mods i tuned similar but accordingly with what i have compared to the settings suggested above. and thats how i got my 14.9 at idle. im sure im gonna have to tinker with it a little more when i start driving it. also i dont have my honeycombs out or biss screw out flush, with it out flush my car idled wayyyy to high. i have no cat but have full 3 inch exhaust with apexi n1 and im at stock boost for now.

If any of you have more input or suggestions im all ears!

oh and just remember i do know im probably not all accurate with this little tune cause i have a minor exhaust leak at my o2 to downpipe gasket.

Touche I didn't see the aem wideband in your profile. So pretty much go off those settings and when you get it all dialed in and exhaust leaks fixed then just adjust the a/f ratio as you drive maybe take a buddy for a ride.As your driving watch the gauge as your cruising around town from 1,000rpm to like 3,000rpm get it as close as you can to around 14:7 reading. Then when your get a chance in a "safe enviornment of course or a freeway on ramp LOL just kidding (mods will yell at me) but do wot pulls and from 4,000rmp to like 6,8000rpm and try get it to about 11:1 a/f ratio.maybe also you will learn the throttle % like mine is set for low 40% and high 70%.Glad your making progress tho.

:thumb: thanks man! im happy as well that im making some progress, as soon as i get a chance im gonna put it on a lift and tackle that exhaust leak. :dsm:

I can. Pm for number and anything else.

MAD PROPS TO DSMPAT95, he came through friday after work took time out of his friday night to help me tune, he made some adjustments to my idle, we reset the new Ne points, Tuned the fuel up! wideband sits right where its suppose to and idles soooooo smooooothhhhh!! :hellyeah: genius. i took all the information he gave me and put it in my pocket for safe keeping. Now gonna work on getting me a logger and down the road going straight dsmlink! :thumb: thanks again man and everyone else who put input into this, couldnt do it without yall! :dsm:

if you have 550s you want the safc to make them 450s at idle so you should be around -18 at 1k really tuning with a safc you need to see your fuel trims with a data logger of some sort. I can almost bet that your running it rich as heck right now and it feels like it falls on its face on boost. I had so many problems with the safc like ol boy said dsmlink is the way to go. I couldn't get over 16lbs of boost with the safc put in dsmlink and was running 23psi in two hours a lil tweak here and there and all my problems dissappreared like the 0100 code the p1105 code so on and so forth. With a palm logger or something to see fuel trims you should aim for zero. Personally if your gonna use the safc take it to someone who knows how to use it

not to be a smarty pants once again LOL if you read the thread i had peoples input, and then dsmpat came along and only lives right down the road from me, came to my house and does know his stuff and helped me tune it correctly and its running better than it ever has. idle 14.7-14.9 at idle and made my idle soooo much smoother. I will get link after i get my taxes + if the wife permits it,but what she doesnt know wont hurt her when it comes to my car ;) thats ###### the only thing id ever hide from her. shes the boss LOL but anyways my car is amazing right now. :hellyeah:

Glad to hear its running super, good work it's always nice to have some helpfull friends.:thumb:

and thanks again for all your help too man, im sure if you were in my area you probably would of been in my garage with us!! god i love dsmtuners.com, so much that i put a dsmtuners.com sticker on my baby. this site saves lives! :thumb: haha:hellyeah::dsm:
