The following homemade timing belt tensioner tool broke inside the motor:

Timing Belt VFAQ Addition 1

It broke off right after the "ears" and the tool is exactly 7 1/16 inches, including the head. Could anyone find out the actual length a battery hold-down?

Also, does anyone know if the broken piece will be in the way of the timing belt? Timing looks great, and the car is ready to run, but I'm just worried that the piece left in there will take out the timing belt.

Thanks a lot guys.

I bought this from chbuzz. Next day shipping/ had it in my had in 3 days. He also refunded my shipping when I bought these from him:

and a crank sprocket tool

Edit nevermind I need to read more. I don't understand why cannot back it out. It pushes on the lever of the tensioner arm and compresses the autotensioner. Compress the auto tensioner, remove the lever/arm assembly then unscrew the broken threads. I wouldn't leave it in there... but thats just me. THen make or buy a new tool and re-time your car.

Disassemble and get it out of there. If it somehow rattles loose it could ruin your timing belt and bend your valves. For the second time around use some threaded rod 8mmx1.25 from your local good hardware store (not big box) or a real fastener store.
