I have a 97 GST and ive had it for a few months now. I got a EVO III 16g. Greddy catback. And the other beginner mods. My friend has a 95 GSX and he is running DSMLink. I was wondering what would I have to get to install it on my car? Also what do I need to do to run a test pipe on my car and not have my car run like shit? Is it possible to do it with out dsmlink? I have the test pipe I'm just scared to install it on my car because I'm afraid it will mess something up and Im still saving up my money to buy dsmlink.

You can put in the test pipe but you should either have a bung installed for your rear o2 sensor, or there is a way to wire something up to remove the sensor.

Go ahead and install the test pipe, it won't hurt anything other than fail you for emissions, if your state subscribes to that crap.

You will need to do something with your rear O2 as not having a cat will trip a CEL. Most people just leave it plugged in, wrap it with aluminum foil and zip tie it out of the way. This will keep you from getting a CEL. :thumb:

scrcco is incorrect, installing it in the test pipe will not do anything. You will still get a CEL, so you can bag that idea.

I dint tell him that the test pipe would do anything. One of my 2G buddies put a testpipe on that had no provisions for the rear o2, so he had a bung welded in and the o2 re-installed and the CEL went away. Another one of my buddies put in a test pipe and wired in some sort of eloctronic part (i'm not big on electronic terminology) into his o2 sensor harness. This also eliminated his CEL.

I would expect he just wired in a resistor, or a resistor and a capaicitor. they sell them all over the place, basically simulates the signal.

To Install DSMlink, you'll have to find a 95 Eprom ECU. These are kinda tough to find, so start looking.

The testpipe may turn on the CEL, however thats the worst it could do. You'll be fine with it installed.

However this thread really doesn't belong in "advanced tech"
