Trying to get the car on the road finally. My sig pretty much explains mods. The new engine only has about 85 miles on it. Been battling problems left and right. I think I need to port my oil filter housing. Cold start is about 70psi ish. Hot idle is right around 12psi ish but it seems to jump quick. 2k rpms and its like 30psi. 3k and its like 50psi ish. Im trying to figure that out. I have an oil restrictor but I need to figure out what to drill it out to because the car is smoking when I get on it. Alot of guys thought it was the turbo getting too much oil. My main problem right now is the car doesnt like to run. It almost seems that the more gas I give it, the more it wants to choke out. Second gear I can mash it and its like hitting a wall, seems to do about the same when its about to start boosting... I start to get into it, trying to be gentle but it doesnt want to do anything... Wants to boost but just doesnt hit, doesnt pull. Wants to die at lights too. Starting it I have to try cranking it once then stop, then crank again and it fires up. Cold or hot. Where do I go guys? Pretty freaked out. My other problem, my boost guage shows almost no vaccum. It did until I brought it up to Laramie Wy and installed the new turbo. I did a compression test, and got around 150 psi across the board with 80 miles and 7200 ft elevation.

Picture of oil pressure at hot idle and and vaccum really low. Target idle at 900.

Boost leak test! Is your bov impropperly vented? I dont think the oil pressure is the issue here, mine was near what yours is and it never gave any problem. Yeah its high but since you are 12psi idle you dont really wanna bring it down lower.

Car saw boost during the first 80 miles that are on it. It was still on the stock 14b. I ran it on the freeway and decelled from like 70 to 40. Then boosted it around on 7psi. Got an oil change at 50 miles. But like I said its only at like 85 miles. Everyone has their own opinions on break in and how long it takes. Some say it takes a while and ect. But also as I said its at 150psi ish compression at 7200ft elevation.

Also porting the oil relief if im not mistaken doesnt lower idle psi. It doesnt effect pressure till the relief spring pressure is over ran and compressed by oil pressure. The journal bearing pte turbos shouldnt see more than like 60psi I've been told by justinmx and others.

And also, yes my bov is vented. But I didnt have this problem before the alltitude, turbo, and injector change. I havent even had a chance to boost it. Ive leak tested it.

A lot of your symptoms sound to me like the rings haven't seated yet, or you've glazed the cylinders. You want lots of engine breaking during decel for a proper break-in, and it usually happens pretty quickly.

I've used this break-in method for years, and it's about the best I've found: Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power

As for the oil pressure:

Are your balance shafts removed?

Which oil pump are you running?

The rest is probably tuning and basic dialing in of the fuel/airflow.

EDIT:

What injectors are you running? Assuming stock 1G base fuel pressure and gasoline, you have link set up for 1450's. And the MAF compensation hasn't been touched yet.

Calan, yes I read that article and have done alot of decell engine breaking along with boosting. Im not sure the exact calculations but im pushing 150psi currently at 7200ft. If the cylinders were glazed the compression would be much less im sure. Obviously specs are set for sea level. So with elevation in account im what 170, 180 or so??? I read roughly 4psi for every 1000ft elevation gain but i'd take that with a grain of salt.

No balance shafts, straight cut gears, and yes I have 1450's in running 91 pump. Fuel pressure is a little closer to 43.5. Not sure if I should run 1g or 2g pressure. It seems injectors are bench tested at 43.5 by most companys. And no I just upgraded from 2.5 to v3 so I havent had a chance to run the maf adjuster. Today was the first time I've driven it in months due to working on it and waiting for my link.

You can run whatever base pressure you want since you have ECMlink. With larger injectors you want more pressure to help with fuel atomization, as long as your pump can flow enough fuel at the higher pressure; 43 psi base is a good compromise. (I really have no idea why anyone with ECMLink would still run 37 psi base pressure unless they're running a really low-volume pump...but I digress LOL

You definitely should port your OFH if your BS are gone, although your numbers in the first post actually don't sound that far off...not ideal, but fairly typical.

I'd bet money that the rest is just a matter of getting airflow and the injectors dialed in.

Just knock out one thing at a time, be patient, and don't get frustrated.

Lol im not so much frustrated... Just scared as shit due to the fact I've got a good 6k sunk into this car this year. Im only 20 and she is my only car. If it takes a dive im completely screwed LOL.

Oh ya man. I read and read and read on the link forum. I know my isc is off. It adjusts a little but wont drop down to the 30 its supposed to be. I have a few others I need to try and see if that fixes it. Im wondering if that is effecting my vaccum at all with it being all the way open. And I know my airflowperrev is off but that is adjusted by maf comp and dead time. Just need time to tune.

No I had messaged you and we talked a little about it a while back. Its a pte gt3561 journal bearing. But everyone stated the -4 off the oil filter housing with no balance shafts is too much for the turbo. You instructed me to buy one of the -4 to -4 restictors off ebay so I did. You also stated that what I should drill it out to would be dependant on my oil pressure. Im running my feed line -4 off the filterd port on a '90 ofh, and my pressure sender is remote mounted off the unfilterd port.

I was also curious if you knew, do those ports have different pressures at them, because my car is not wanting to run at all and it bogs down to like 300 or 400 rpms and pressure drops low...
