Seeing lots of knock and I'm lost as to where to start. 1991 Talon TSi AWD, 3" gm maf/ cable, fic 750's, greddy profec B spec II ebc, cat deleted, stock 13g (for now) blitz b.o.v. vented atmospheric, stock fuel pump, rail, and regulator. I've attached a log that I hope works and helps. First time so not much faith in my skills.
:ohdamn:

You sure you have a good knock sensor with no black stuff oozing out and leaking on the back of the block? It seems that your global fuel is slightly off. You say you have FIC 750's correct? According to your log your global was set for 810cc injectors. So your global fuel should be -39.8%. Your airflowperrev at idle seems to be pretty high as well. It should be around .25 to .26. I would change your injector global deadtime under the fuel tab to 330 to help that.

I had similar issues as you a few weeks ago when I just got my car running. Something I had to do was change when my knock sensor was activated. I was picking up tons of knock in the 2-3k RPM range for some reason, it was all phantom knock though. But to do that I went to my ALS/Knck tab and changed the knock sensor to activate at 3000 rpms and TPS above 30%.

Good call on the knock sensor, haven't had a chance yet to swap it out yet but there's enough tar on the outside of it to fix the cracks on my driveway! Gonna grab one tomorrow I'll let you know how it turns out. As far as the global setting goes I just used the calculator and used what it said... I'll adjust that tonight yet, one thing further I've been curious about is the operating temp. Is 205 - 216 considered acceptable?

New log, changed the global but can't get the dead time much over what I set it at here without it going way lean. Possible MAF comp issue or something along that line? I've heard that rotating the maf can have an affect on it's reading...?WTF

The maf I am not sure about since I've never used the GM MAF yet. 216 is just a little high for my liking. But all my DSMs were always in the 205-210 range on warm days. Do you have an aluminum radiator? Also using distilled water with water wetter works very well too. Just be sure to drain it when winter comes. Have you joined the ECMLink forums yet?

Running the punishment aluminium radiator w/dual fans. Picked up the car this fall with a cracked radiator, and being in Alaska I went with a 75/25 mix when I installed the radiator and hoses.
I'm also on the ecm forum as well. Someone on there suggested SD over the GM MAF and after much headache tuning with this one I think I'm going that route. If you're not running a GM MAF what do you run?

I'm running an EVO8 maf currently but I am wanting to switch over to SD as well. You could try running a cooler thermostat. Stock is 190 degree, you could try using something like a 160 degree and then adjust the coolant offset in ECMLink. But temps in the 200-210 range is pretty normal. These motors love to run hot and the engine bay temps are ridiculous.

I think I will swap out the thermostat. I don't see where dropping the coolant temp by 10 degrees would have any adverse effects. Can you run the evo8 blow through?

Update: No knock sensor to be had in town, Getting shipped down from Anchorage tomorrow. Installed a 180 degree thermostat and new cap, dropped coolant temp by 23 degrees under "normal driving conditions." At idle it runs 10-16 degrees cooler.

Finally got the new knock sensor in :rocks: had a bit of a fight... someone cut the plug off and soldered the old one in. At first it ran hard with no counts at all. Now it's back but not nearly as bad. On the low boost setting (10 psi) it's good to go, on the High boost setting (15 psi) I get just enough knock to trip my light. I've got my stock boost gauge set to display knock so I can monitor it fairly well.
Is 90 octane going to be enough with 15 psi and FIC 750's? What else could be my culprit?
