First question my battery went bad yesterday. The alternator is not charging it but if i jump the batt the car will stay on so i'm pretty sure my alt's not bad. i was wandering if battery failure will cause the fuel pump to act up? yesterday my car did some wierd stuff i've never experienced before and i dont know if the problem lies in fuel delivery or if something malfunctioned in my my motor. Second question my car has a 7 bolt in it not sure of which year car it came out of. can somebody tell me what a car does if the crank walks out of control.

what my car was doin yesterday was when i tried to accelerate i was haveing to push the gas almost to the floor and wait for it to finally start going. while i had the gas pressed in there was no foward power just a choking like sound from my exhaust and a burning singeing popping noise coming from what sounded to be the exhaust. then when the car accelerated it would jerk back and forth like power, no power, power, no power etc. keep in mind also that the battery had failed why i asked about fuel pump trouble.

I thought my motor blew but it never smoked. me yesterday morning.

Yep, probably a nasty boost leak.

Yep, probably a nasty boost leak.

all this came on all of a sudden when the battery needed jumped to be started. idle sounded fine while the jumper cables were on but as soon as they came off idle screwed up and the car started doing what i said it was doing. right before this happened it was running normal. got back home finally. the car did die as i was coming to a stop but i was going fast enuff to pop the clutch to start it back. it wouldnt turn back over with ignition.

Well have you replaced the battery yet? I assumed you did.

Fried alternators and bad batteries are part of the DSM charm! That's part of why I moved my battery to the trunk and put a heat shield/power steering fluid drip gaurd on my alternator. It does sound like your alternator isn't doing it's job though. The jerking could be a boost leak, though extremely lower fuel pressure could do it too, as could improper ignition from lack of current. As for your concern about crankwalk, it's not likely. Crankwalk is a silent killer. It'll drive fine, right up until you hear tic-tic-tic-CRACK. That's when your crank sensor just got destroyed and the car will not start at all. If you have a 1g CAS, the clutch will start engaging at different points, and sometimes fail to disengage after a hard turn. It doesn't sound like those are part of your problem, so you can relax some.
