I installed a FP exhaust manifold, a 16g, and evo 3 o2 hosuing last two nights and when I started the car it idled for a minute then died. If i would hold the gas down a little it would not die just when I would let it idle. The longest it idled for was maybe 5 minutes. The only problem I can see right now is a small oil leak from the oil feed line since I fed it from the head.I almost know i have boost leaks because the j pipe was too short and i had to make the couplers barely stay on. My main question is if I have a bad boost leak, would it not make my car idle? Any help would be very much apprciated.

Fix the boost leak. That will help if not completely remedy the situation. Once that is done, come back and report

Boost/vac leaks can be a major source of idle issues. So many times I've had an idle issue that I was going crazy trying to diagnose until I realized that there was a leak somewhere in the system. Try solving that issue first and see if the idle problems persist, if you have unmetered air entering the engine or are losing air after the MAF that can definitely be the source of your problems.

Ok thanks guys. I wont be able to check for a leak til thursday. Ill report back sometime then to give an update.

Ok guys sorry it took so long to get back. I got stuck up school for 2 weeks because of snow.I did have a boost leaks so I just got a vr speed fmic kit and just got it hooked up. It idles fine and I don't think i have any leaks.I just noticed with the t25 you could just rev it and the bov would blow off, but mine wouldnt blow off. I havent got to drive it on the road yet. Hopefully I can do that monday. I was just wondering if that's normal for a 16g not to blow off when u just rev it.

depends on your blow off valve you have, some are more sensitive than others. Ive got a ported evo3 16g with a port matched 2g mani and a megan racing 2.5" o2 and if i free rev to just like 5k rpm I can get a nice whoosh from my hks Blow off valve. But thats also one of the most responsive blow off valves that exists.

I have a greddy type rs. My cousin installed a 16g and it did the same thing that mine did basically.I just thought it was weird it would do it with the t25 and not the 16g. I'll report back either tomorrow or monday to give an update on it when I actually get to drive it.

the 16g is substantially bigger than the baby dick t25 you had on there, so it spools a little slower. With proper porting, along with free flowing intake and exhaust you can have an evo3 spool like a 14b, which is quick. That's how mine is, boost comes on almost instantly, and at very low rpm like below 3k in third gear.
