ok so i want get bigger injectors soon and maybe a bigger turbo by May but i heard i will need to then get it tunned so im curious to know what would be the best bang for my buck i honestly dont want to go to a shop and pay for tune i would like to do it myself so what do i look for my friend gave me a SAFC is that any good ???

i have a boost controller and a boost guage and a wide band guage so if im understanding correctly all i need is the logger which is the EVoScan correct.

If you stick to the SAFC tuning system, then yes. Like others have said, DSMlink will give you more freedom in the tune and enable you to upgrade later on. But if you're only looking to use max 650cc injectors and use what you already have, you only need the logger to read everything and tune accordingly

This is crazy can just tell me what to buy and ill go from there !! all i have is the AFC Unit and a wideband guage thats it.

Yes I can just tell you what to buy if you want it that way.. ECMTuning, Inc.

Or you can go the super easy way and just buy the safc..

Evoscan is the logger I have but then again I have a 99 ecu. Like I said, from what I've read on DSMtuners, it'll work, just the bit rate is not as good as Ravenous and I showed in the links. Palmloggers work as well if you can find one cheap.

I'd state your equipment (brand and such) for the basics (boost/wideband/version of SAFC) so these guys can tell you whether you have what's needed (I gotta go :p) Also, don't forget, bigger injectors means bigger need of fuel, and thus upgraded fuel pump.

im contemplating on the two right now

Let me put it to you this way..If you plan on adding any more mods down the road, bolts ons, or building an engine or head, etc..Not just the injectors..I would go with dsmlink..It's a bit expensive for the software and ecu socketing, but It will give you more flexability..And give you complete control over everything going on with the engine..It also allows you to add new mods down the road and not have to ever buy another tunining software or logger..

Well I hate to be the burden of bad news but did you check to see if you have an eprom..I mean If you don't you just lost 50 bux bro..Chances are you do, but if you don't..You just wasted 50 bux..

Sorry I read this part and assumed that it was for eproms only.. EVOSCAN setup tips for 1995 EPROM ECU's.
Please note: EvoScan can log all 2G Turbo DSM's, but the 1995-97 cars are logged at a MUCH slower rate. I recommend only logging one value at a time, such as knock, on a 1995-97 car, or any 2G using a 1995 ECU.

But then there at the bottom there is DOES say use all all 2g's..

Good catch Brian..

I ended up going SAFC, AEM Wideband, Exhaust Temp gauge. Probably not the best but you can keep everything in check. I Dont have a logger yet, would be nice to check for knock. But this is a straight up budget build, Cheap and fast is all i want.. its not my daily so i could care less.

I just read this whole thread and it kinda gave me a headache. I'm not sure the original poster has any Idea what he's doing and is just buying up parts hoping he gets what he needs. Its kinda a big clustery mess.

Before buying anything a person should understand what they need, and why they need it. And if you happen to buy the right stuff, you would have a hard time knowing how to use it anyway without some study time. OP Take a few hours to do some research on tuning so your not wasting your money. Without research and understanding...no matter what you choose, SAFC or Link, your gonna have problems and have failure.

I will go a bit against the grain here. I understand you were given the SAFC? And you only have 650cc injectors that you want to run? What turbo are you going to use? I'm guessing nothing larger than a 16g. If you were given the SAFC, why in the hell wouldn't you use it. ITS FREE!!! You wanted the cheapest way out...well that's it. You do need to slow down and understand what each part of this equation does and why its important. You can't possibly use a tool you cant understand. And trust me LINK requires alot more learning than an SAFC.

YES I agree that DSMlink is FAR superior to the SAFC. It's not even close. But you have to crawl before you can walk. It seems like you are in the very beginning stages about learning how to tune a car. SAFC is Far simpler. Besides the supporting tools (gauges, wideband, etc) for tuning are the same for the SAFC and a DSMlink setup. The only main difference in setup being the logger. dmslink will log for you. SAFC will not so you would need a seperate one.

The main reason I'm really steering you towards the SAFC, is in this thread you have shown me characteristics in your questions that highlight a personality that doesn't like to do research and learn things (which is fine, im not bashing you). You just want it to work...now...for cheap. DSMlink doesn't work that way. SAFC doesn't really either, but you already have it...so yeah.
