Need a new transmission. What can I get it from?

So my car is still making a rattling noise any time the engine is running and the clutch is not pressed, drained the new fluid out i put in the transmission and found metal shavings and pieces in it. I was planning on rebuilding it but from my research it looks like you can't even replace the syncros in 1/2 the transmission so I'm gonna just get another transmission. My question is what cars can I get a transmission out of. I know neons use the NV-T350 but all of them up to 2000 are cable operated. If I just have to change the bell housing that's not an issue but I couldn't find a straight answer on that. Also if I get a tranny with a different gear ratio will I be fine as long as I use the speedo gear that came with that tranny or am I going to have to get the car tuned for the gear ratio?

Clicking noise when in idle and clutch not pressed? Does the noise change when clutch is depressed? Possible through out bearing? How do the gear drive? And synchros grinding and clutch slippage? May not need a trans.

But if your going to go and get a trans. Use car-part.com and look up a used tranny by distance and with your area code. It'll bring up all the tranny's starting closet to you and all if not most offer at least a 6 month warranty. Lmk if it helps

Don't get a new trans, I had the same problem in my 99 gst about a month before my clutch went, after I pulled the tranny I found both the throw out bearing and pilot bearing were shot along with my pressure plate... Don't go buying another trans if the car normally shifts smooth and quiet. The reason for all the noise at idle is due to no pressure from the diaphragm pulling out from rotational high speed thus making your throw out bearing raise hell

And btw the best tranny the neon ever had was from a 2001 neon r/t or magnum it was a close first and second and hard pulling 3rd and 4th, with 5th pulling all the way to 155 until the stock cv axles broke, I owned one, built it and wrecked it. In fact I bought it from a fellow Dsm member right before he got I to dsm's

Def. right. Don't waste money more then like a new clutch kit with t-out bearing will solve the issue

Almost all of my cars have been either 5speed or 6speed manuals and every time I ran into this same noise my clutch was either on its way out or my throw out bearing and pilot bearing were almost ready to shred my clutch.
Yeah people if you drive like I do (like I stole it and am running from the cops) you can completely destroy the pilot bearing and throw out bearing and the pieces WILL shred your clutch and flywheel, I have pictures

In case anyone else has this question in the future I ended up getting a tranny from a 95 neon. 95-99/00 neons use a cable clutch so the bell housing had to be changed over to the one from my old tranny. The vss is also different on neons so you need to use the vss from your old tranny. Then you just bolt it to the car and drive. Most neons have 3.55 diff gears as opposed to the 3.94 gears that eclipse/talons have so your RPM will be lower. I don't see any issues with the car lugging so far. I actually prefer the 3.55 gears to the 3.94's at 70 mph the car is only turning about 2600 RPM so on highway trips I would assume I should see a significant gain in gas mileage.
