Hey guys I just installed the following mods onto my car and I wanted to knwo if what I am feeling while driving seems normal and what else I can do to fix it.

Installed Mods:
2.5inch Upper and Lower IC Piping
TD05H 20g Turbo
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Denso 560 Injectors
Evo 8 FMIC
Turbo XS RFL
all needed Gauges

Anyways I have yet to put in my SAFC II but I wanted to go out and just see how the car was running. Well since the install of the turbo, injectors, pump, ic piping I have noticed that the car is getting really bad compressor surge. I have also noticed that I am not really feeling a huge increase in power. My question for you all is what is causing this compressor surge? Also with a ungoverned Fuel pump and Injectors would my car be running rich or lean at 15psi boost? I was told rich as hell but I want to make sure. Also when I get to full boost right at 15psi I feel a little bit of a jerk. Is that fuel cut?

As far as the compressor surge goes... I have tightened and loosened up my bov to try and compensate for the surge but it doesn't seem to be making a difference unless I tighten it all the way which just creates more surge. Please help guys cause I am sitting here trying to drive to work!.... :p Thanks in advance

With no control of the injectors you are going to run like crap. You are running rich/lean/rich/lean because the ECU has no clue what the dead time and pulse rate should be for the new injectors.

I have heard of 20g's surging before, usually when people put HUGE FMIC in, the increased volume cannot drop in pressure well enough with the bov so the air trys to go back into the turbo. Another surge issue is with overly large or overly long intake pipes, area * length = volume, volume can kill you via boost drop, surge, and internal turbulance.

Did you lean out your safc since you put bigger injectors in?

No I have not put in the SAFC II yet cause I wanted to make sure their were no issues before moving onto the the SAFC II.

Nanen - I don;t think it's the overly large FMIC because it's only a Evo 8 FMIC and my hard pipes are not to mcuh longer then the other pipe I was using before. Now the intake and pipes were running my 14b right before this and I wasn't getting this kind of compressor surge.

To tell you guys the truth I am not 100% sure it is compressor surge because I am getting this vibrating air sound coming out of my air filter. The BOV is opening some and letting out some boost but the choppy air sound coming out of the air filter is really making me worried something is wrong. Does this sound liek compressor surge to you guys?

Um no that does not really sound like compresser surge, your car would have to be able to build boost before it could surge.

Get the SAFC in and get the car running, you can't stop at injectors and a turbo to see if its going well, the SAFC is a very important step.

I am venting to the atmosphere yes. The sound is coming out of the air filter when i build boost. It's like the remaining air that is in the intake right past the air filter is being pushed back out of the intake and it sounds chippy. Now this is happening right at the same time as the BOV opening and last a little longer then the swoosh that is coming out of the bov.

Your biggest problem right now is that you have bigger injectors w/ nothing to control them. Try putting your stock injectors back in and see if it helps.

Hey Gamble I am ###### just going to put the SAFC II in but I am a newbie at that and needs some help. ='( I don;t think the fuel has anything to do with this sound coming out of the air filter though. I mean I know the car is running crappy with the fuel but I am not sure why it sounds so messed up when I let off the gas.

Just make sure you read the directions and do the preset before you turn on the car. Fix one problem at a time.
Might as well do a boost leak test while your at it too.

I see many issues.

1) Stop venting that BOV, recirculate it (http://www.3sxperformance.com/bovs.asp) or get a MAFT setup.
2) Install the SAFC or put back your stock injectors
3) Get an AFPR for the 255 pump

As for the noise, how is your blow off valve hooked up? Do you have a boost controller? How is that hooked up?

If it is compressor surge, it will sound like a flutter instead of a blow off. If that's the case you need to adjust the blow off valve. Is there a nut on that blow off valve that you can adjust?

It does sound like a flutter but it sounds like it at the end of the air filter on the intake. The BOV is hooked up and nothign has been changed since my 14b was on so I am not sure how I can get compressor surge now because I had the saem setup just with different fuel and differnet turbo.
