Dont mean for this to be a newb question but is there any risk in using non turbo block in a awd DSM. The block has 1G rods that were shot peened and cut for roundness and .020 over Mitsu 2G pistons with Mitsu rings. The block is a non turbo block bored .020 over and rehoned and drilled with 1G oil squirters.

Anybody? There is a guy who is sellin a 2g near me and I am thinkin of pickin it up. I just dont want to buy a bomb shell. Even though I already own a DSM.

Use it. I have for a while. It sees 20+psi of boost daily and I don't even have oil squirters.

Cool and one other concern is that the motor isn't balanced. Is there any damage that can come from that?

Other than it wanting to pull itself apart when everything is spinning, no. For example, glue or tape a coin to a top(or dreidel), then spin it and see what happens.

Some of the 4g63 NT blocks also don't have a spot for a knock sensor. I have an NT block at the machine shop right now getting bored 0.020" over and all kinds of other good stuff going on.

mavisky has a article on putting a turbo on the n/t block and it shows the provision for the knock sensor he used on the n/t block. other then that youll be fine without squirters.

get the internals balanced and youll be fine.

If the motor is already built, and wasn't balanced, Do not get it. It will be a time bomb, and it will eat itself up if you are going to use the motor at anything but cruising speeds.

Do you think the rotating assembly was balanced from the factory????

Unless you are building a 8 sec car running 8K+ then I wouldn't worry about it.

Is this just something you herd somewhere else and you thought it would fit here. Do you know this for a fact? Do you even know why they balance engines? And how much of the bottom end are you saying needs to be balanced so it won't be a "time bomb"
