Wazup,
Im in the final stages of gettin my new head together(check my profile), I just had a quick question. I built this head basiclly so it would be indestructable and could hold 10,000rpm. but i still havent touched my shortblock. i was wondering if i should keep the revs down until i either get some forged internals or a 2.3l stroker or can the stock short block handle 10,000rpm and for how long because after i get this thing together i wanna have some fun chasing muscle cars around and not have to worry about throwin a rod or melting a piston.
Basicly my question is where should i keep the RPM's????????

mybad.. i didnt know about that thread... LOL.. what an ignorant prick. Im in no way trying to mimic those pages, but just help me out here, what is the highest rpm i can go or would you recommend and still be safe?

I wouldn't do more than 8000-8500 on a regular basis. That would be my limit if I wanted to rev it out all the time. My best friends 2G does this and has had no ill affects at the track or driving yet.

Well I've taken my stock bottom end to 8500 on a regular basis. It's the 1st gear. It revs so hard so fast sometimes I bounce off the 8500 rev limiter I have set. You will want your balance shafts removed for this. They spin at 2x the speed of the crank so at anything above 7000 RPM you run the risk of spining off a balance shaft bearing and loosing your mtor.

if you want high rpms I would look into a destroked engine. 2.1L and will rev to 10k

a thread you may want to look into

slowboy has an engine also

"De-stroked" I guess it applies a destroked 2.4.. Better described as bored out, tall deck, long rod version of a 2.0 since the stroke is the same...

I have a demon of a new engine combo I am sitting on... I was planning on trying to hit this shootout but was busy on family issues..

:shhh:

I want to be the first one to go thru the traps on one......

I'll sit on it untill then....

YOU I KNOW for SURE could pull it off.... Its involves techniques used for decades on engines to change displacement....

You I will PM...

This ought to be quite the project..... :thumb:

If money it not an object :D

Ferrari, Renault, Mercedes, Honda, Cosworth, BMW, and Toyota are all currently involved in formula one engine manufacture. All have engine that rev to 17,000, to 19,000 rpm's in their current 3.0L V-10 format. The specifications have changed for next year when they move to 2.4L V-8's, and most of them are now reving to over 20,000.

10 to 20 million will get you a one year lease on one of these (of course you will need to negotiate your own terms). Current life expectancy is around 800K per engine, so expect to do a few swaps each summer.
