Ok so i know that i dont need to build the bottom end for the power i am making now, BUT i need to do the piston rings and since im going to be down there anyway i was thinking of doing a wisco/ eagle combo. Is there anything else i should while its apart?

my goals are to max out the e16g and after that stay some where between 350 and 400 whp. Thanks!

yea i planned on checking the codition of the internals. what about additional parts?

also im thinking about doing 9.0:1 cr pistons. will those be benificial for me?

I wouldnt do 9:1 pistons without any kind of timing control on a 1g. Definately look into some upgrades pistons though. Even 2g pistons will suit you well and be a solid setup for 500whp. I personally would go forged however for the added insurance. Wiseco makes an 8.3:1 piston.

yea ok.. thanks a lot. I am planning on getting DSMlink anyway. thanks a lot for your help

id look into skat rods over eagles. Practically the same rod, but skats have the same stock oiling hole on the rod below the piston. For some reason eagle didnt put them there and stock rods have em, so aftermarket rods should too. Just my $00.02, i chose skat over eagle for that reason and that reason alone.
Im also running weisco 8.3's and love em, the higher compression is great for off boost and on boost, but its not too high for me to have to change my stock timing maps (yet).

good luck with the build!

I agree about the Scat rod. I used to not be one of those dorky uber advocates of oil squirters because from expereience I know the engines DO NOT NEED THEM... What I didn't realize for a while was that didn't mean there were no benefits... The cooling ability over the actual lubrication is quite useful for added safety and reliability. I also like the cooling chanels, I saw them on a friends set of Honda rods, and by comparison, they certainly have nicer finish work than eagle. Not saying eagles won;t work just fine, it's just for the pretty much the same price scat offers much more. Wiseco, is nice... I prefer Ross myself, again for fit and finish, and if nothing else customer service.

Before I forget... I like the idea of the oil groove for not squirter equipped blocks like the 4G64, not really for the 4G63 because of the fluctuation in pressure caused by them, and the excess of oil on the walls.

To the original poster, you may not overpower the stock parts, but for what you may spend these days for the aftermarket... it's cheap insurance, and more power all in one to go aftermarket forged parts. Plus, if you ever freshen up or tear down for inspection, full floating assemblies can be taken apart and put back togather. Stock press fit style always destroys the pistons. Or it distorts them then they ruin a freshly rebuilt block.
