n00bie question of the year: 2g tranny mount

I'm having a bad time trying to get this mount of so I can put my final prothane on. I've lowered the engine and unbolted it from the bracket, but the thing will NOT slide out. On vfaq, the 1G vfaq says to unbolt it from the wheelwell side, but I didn't see any bolts when I took a peek tonight. Any advice?

You should just be able to unbolt it from the trans. Its kinda welded to the car if I remember right (did a tranny swap on a 2ga). We just unbolted it from the trans and it came off, as there aren't any bolts on it in the fenderwell. Just take the one out of the middle of the mount as well, and I think it would come right off. Sorry I can't be more help as its been awhile.

Dream On is correct the easiest way is to unbolt it from the transmission. Good luck.

get a bigger hammer and have at it. it always works for me, i call it perswation.

Thanks guys! I already did unbolt all of the necessary nuts/long bolt. It's just that it won't clear the stud and bracket. Ill have at it later today with a BFH, but I can't see how that will move it? the transmission/motor is basically resting on the cross member already.

also, another tip I picked up is taking the tbelt mount out, and rocking the motor...

I put my prothane mount inserts in when I pulled my trans to rebuild it so it was much easier at that point.

If you remove the cross member it should drop enough to clear with the t-belt side mount off.

And yes, the 1g does have 4 bolts under rubber covers in the pass. side wheel well and the 2g is welded to the frame.
