Old School 2GNTer Username 'J' here:

I was replacing a clutch this weekend, and noticed (when I popped the axles and could easily see up the backside of the block)... that I had a yellow wire that was cut, and I can't figure out what it is supposed to connect to.
It was in the loom with the alternator's power wires, but broke away from the alternator half way behind the block. I pulled off all of the loom, and took some pictures of the connector (wire harness) where it originates from... I'm hoping someone here can help me identify where it's supposed to go!

It looks like it's on the harness end of things, so couldn't you just trace back the harness and find the same color wire? to get the exact purpose of that wire, you'll have to consult a repair manual.
