So ive been slowly cleaning up the poor connections in the 98 talon and i came across this wire that looks to connect to the ac controls the colour of the wires and it has a green/white and a yellow/black but then the wire that goes to the a/c controls has 2 black and connect to two red i cant find it in the book so hopefully someone here knows what it is but im thinking this might be why my cluster speed and rpm lights dont work not sure what the previous owner was on please help asap (photo is right behind the dash centre vents )

This helps so much do you know if the wire that has the splices on it needs to connect to anything else im looking to add the moman gauges in my cluster and hoping i can just use that as a tap in point but the loose all black wire coming from the a/c gauges is what im worried about also looking for the fuse location for the guages im just trying to check everything i can think before i got ripping into stuff that might not be necessary.

Attach more photos of the black wires and what you are talking about. The loose black wires look aftermarket from the one pic but it's so zoomed in I can't really tell what's going on.

What gauges are you wanting to use and what are you needing that has to be tapped into?

I can take more photos tomorrow morning im basically looking to install moman plasma gauges it just need a constant 12v but i want to get the dimmer to also work with it

Here is that random black wire going to the a/c gauges

Also did some more digging since i notice more tape on the drivers kick panel and looks like the same wires G/w and B/y are also tapped into down here alone with a few other wires. I dont know why but they connect to a empty led socket ill attach photos of this and then when i unwrap them ill attach photos of the new wires aswell

The other two wires from this spot near the shifter are solid blue and solid black and it looks like they go down the centre maybe to the back of the car not sure

So the first set of photos are most likely left over from a gauge overlay led system. Common ebay part to change to color of the gauge cluster colors.

The second set of photos are the remnants of the cigarette lighter plugs they have hacked off and tapped into. You will have a switched power, ground and light socket there which will most likely also be green/white and black/yellow.

This helped so much i managed to rewire the cigarette lighter, add my clusters and the led overlay it still works i guess it got disconnected at some point
Thank you for the help @Dusty Landrum

Not the worst wiring job I've seen... but Holy Short Circuits, Batman! I would take some time to clean that up. But then, I tend to be a little OCD when it comes to wiring...

Yeah got the same problem i got rid of all the extra taps and repaired the original connection going back to the dimmer. The only wiring that i have left is upgrading the the old alarm system and power locks if you know of a good one to inatall for sure let me know
