Resolved Mystery wire broke changing alternator.

Was changing my alternator and when I dropped it down below the oil filter I clipped a wire coming from under the said oil filter. It was in a yellowish looking box with a thin metal U(this is what snapped when I hit it) shaped piece that was held in by a single screw. Everything works on the car but I have no idea what this wire went to. Its directly perpendicular to under the oil filter where wires from the alternator come out and clip into the metal beside the oil filter. If it wasn't so wet out I would go snap a picture to be perfectly clear, but good ol' stormy Illinois is preventing that atm.
If anyone has any idea what I am talking about, or has a picture of the area of an oil filter on a 93-94 i could point it out, that would be swell!

Sounds like the wire that runs to the oil sending unit for the gauge.

Would my oil gauge still be reading like it normally does if this is the case?

No. Sorry there is 2 sensors one for the oil light and one for the sender for gauge.

That is the oil light sensor.

That is for your low oil pressure light

It's just a typical eyelet. Take out the screw and put the wire back on then screw it back in.

Yep that is for your oil light. Been there done that.
