Changing Alternator Belt

So I'm getting ready to change out my alternator belt, and have never done it before. I have a general idea of how it's done, and feel confident that I am able to do it.

I just wanted to know if anyone has any horror stories that revolve around this task... could be a good way to keep me from having a story of my own at the end of the day.

It's not a tough job, you can get it done fairly quickly and easily. Just make sure you've got your manual handy.

I have no manual... I need one though. Anybody know anywhere I can find a free downloadable manual?

Really easy to do. Loosen the lock nut on the tensioner, then loosen the long bolt and the belt will be loose and easy to take off. The P/S belt is a bit harder.

I just went and picked up a manual, It made the job a lot easier. I knew how to do it, but it just sparked a thought...

Every time I go to do a job on my car, I think... "wonder if anyone has ever had a hell of a time doing it."

You DID change all the belts (AC, PS, ALT) at the same time... right?

The guy who had the car before me changed the AC/power steering belt, but not the alternator belt, so I only had to change one of them. It was pretty easy. Actually the only thing that made it hard was the 100 degree temperature beating down on my back. The celebratory beer tasted extra good after that.
